I am pleased to announce that this week I have a guest writer for the blog. My sister and the recent mother of a beautiful young boy, Tara Lovsin, lent her voice to speak out about the Sandusky case. This is what she had to say:
It always blows my mind when we hear this type of headline in the news: A man who is looked up to by an entire society for his generosity and good deeds has been unveiled as a Pedophile. All along, the creep was using his status to lure children in and take advantage of them. I don’t understand how these sick people hide their crimes for so long, and now that I am a mother of a Young Boy, it scares me!
CHILDREN’s charity. He was found guilty on November 4thfor 40 counts of child abuse over the span of 15 years. Since his conviction, many more victims have come forward. How the heck does this happen?
The worst part? During these 15 years, there have been eye witnesses and complaints about his behavior towards the children he coaches. The people who came forward were casually dismissed by school directors because Jerry “is a good guy”, and what he gives to society is simply more important than rendering justice to his victims and putting an end to his foul behavior.
It is disgusting that a scum bag like Sandusky got away with this abuse despite the fact that several people knew exactly what he was doing. Fuck the people who chose to help him cover up his crime. Why wouldn’t these people want to be heroes for the young innocent boys that are being raped? I believe it is as much a crime to enable a pedophile as it is to directly commit rape yourself.
Imagine being a young boy in a sports team, you want nothing more than to make it big and play sports as your career. You feel fortunate that you have amongst your mentors and coaches someone who has won many awards and is looked up to by everyone. He tells you that you are talented and that he can help you make it far. He says he sees a star in you. All his talk makes you like him and trust him. Then, all of a sudden, he corners you while you are alone, makes you take a shower with him, and he molests you.
You feel dirty and worthless.
Your dreams shatter, it was all a lie.
During an interview about his crime Sandusky had the nerve to admit to his actions, but decriminalized himself by saying that he is not a pedophile and that, though he touched young boys, it was not in a sexual way. Really Jerry?!What would you call it then?
I’m sorry but if this was something that happened to my son and nobody was doing anything about it I would schedule a meeting with Jerry Sandusky personally to take care of business. Unfortunately, adrenaline would probably be rushing through my blood and I might attempt to sever his penis and stuff it down his throat. Oopsy.
