MoMA’s Annual Armory Party to Feature a Live Performance by Borns

The Museum of Modern Art will host The Armory Party, a benefit event with live music and DJs celebrating the opening of The Armory Show andArmory Arts Week, on Wednesday, March 7, 2018. The Armory Show is New York’s premier art fair and a definitive cultural destination for discovering and collecting the world’s most important 20th- and 21st-century artworks. The evening reception, along with the daytimeEarly Access Preview at Piers 92 and 94, benefits MoMA’s exhibition programming.The 2018 Armory Party runs from 9:00 p.m. to midnight, and features access to CollectionGalleries 1800s-1950s. A VIP Hour, held from 8:00 to 9:00 p.m., includes access to The LongRun and Tarsila do Amaral: Inventing Modern Art in Brazil, in addition to The Armory Party at9:00 p.m.

On view from November 11, 2017, through November 4, 2018, The Long Run chronicles the continued experimentation of artists long after their breakthrough moments, suggesting that invention results from sustained critical thinking, persistent observation, and countless hours in the studio. Tarsila do Amaral, on view from February 11 through June 3, 2018, is the first exhibition in the United States exclusively devoted to the artist and features nearly 120artworks, including paintings, drawings, sketchbooks, photographs, and other historical documents drawn from collections across Latin America, Europe, and the United States. BØRNS will perform a live set in the Museum’s Agnes Gund Garden Lobby. BØRNS released his debut album Dopamine in 2015 to rave reviews with the Associated Press calling it “some of the most heartfelt electronic-based music in recent memory,” while Spin noted that BØRNS “writes brilliant pop songs that worm their way into your heart in an instant.” Following the smash success of platinum-selling single “Electric Love” BØRNS has performed at major festivals likeCoachella, Lollapalooza, and Bonnaroo, in addition to headlining a sold-out theater tour in2016. BØRNS’ highly anticipated new album, Blue Madonna, was recently released in January 2018.

This year’s event will be hosted by Glenn D. Lowry, Director, The Museum of Modern Art; Klaus Biesenbach, Director MoMA PS1 & Chief Curator-at-Large, The Museum of Modern Artand Nicole Berry, Executive Director, The Armory Show. Additional host committee members includde Sarah Arison, Alexandra Chemla, Sebastian Cwillich, Jia Jia Fei, Olivier Fuller, Camila Guarita, Sandra Hegedus, Elizabeth Kurpis, Paul Arnhold & Wes Gordon, Jen Mergel, GabrielRitter, Eva Ruiz, Esther Seinjet and Monica & Peter Tessler.
