California Adventure

Here’s the blog of our recent trip to the west coast of The US of A. For the last two and a bit weeks Me, my family and brother and sister in law explored the great location of California. The trip started in Los Angeles near the Disney park there.

For thoes of you who know me or have read my other posts and blogs, you will know my family and I are  big Disney fans and have been to Floridas Disney parks several times.

However this blog is about the Californian park and I will try not to compair it to florida. Sufice to say they are both different and have pros and cons between them but which ever one you go to see, you will have a great time.

I think part of the magic with Disney is that there is something for everyone, the kids love the rides and I love the themeing and photo opertunities. This plays a particularly clever part in reducing you waiting time. Although there are hundreds of people and ques to ride certain attractions can take up to 1 hour, disney have come up with the clever ploy of making the que part of the attraction, ques snake in and around intricate film set like scenery which is almost as interesting as the ride itself.

These two shots show some of the themeing as you enter the adventureland area of the park and the entrance area for the Indiana Jones ride. The park is split down into sections and each section has a theme. For instance rides such as the congo river cruise and indiana jones would both be in the adventure area of the park and this whole area would be themed as a jungle adventure. Other areas include tomorrowland which as you would expect is where you find rides such as space mountain and Buzz Lightyear rides. Its in tomorrowland that one of my altime favourites can be found, I’m not sure what the real name for this ride is as our family has called it coloured cars since my son cristened it that as he was too young to remember its name.

Of course there isn’t just disney in LA and although I could easily upload another three hundred photos of disney, I think we should move onto the other sights that we visited.

Next in line was the great day out at Universal Studios. This is a working film lot and the tram that takes you around the backlot tour is not to be missed. It started out when universal pictures first started with only two tour busses with each haveing a driver and guide, now there are numerous trams that have several carridges and run frequently throughout the day.

Although this is a smaller park than the Disney one and can easily be visited in a day it is well worth buying a front of line pass. The reason for this is that it was considerably hotter here in down town LA and queing would have made a hot tirring day even worst.

This is part of the city lot where many famous TV shows and films were made.

Again alot of effort has gone into the themeing and scenery here.

The next place on our visit list was Hollywood Boulevard and the famous stars. It was whilst touring this regon that I started to wonder about the cedulity of the US government. For many years they have been telling us that various famous people have died in mysterious circumstances. However a short walk around the Hollywood area soon proved these theories to be wrong, as I saw Elvis alive and well and clearly very fit as he seemed to be able to get around several streets quicker than we could.  My son also filmed Micheal Jackson in one of the local super markets.

The next part of our trip took us on to Las Vegas with a stop on route at the wild west ghost town of Calico. But thats another story for a later blog.

Hope you enjoyed this blog and would like to leave a comment. Please return for part two which will cover vegas, calico and San fransisco. However if you would like to see a more artistic photoblog of our visit, Take a look at my other blog.   http://wp.me/P1Ofj3-aB
