Alternate Uses For Stuff

Many things that we use every day can be applied to other mind-boggling uses.  Here are 3 frequently used products that can be used for something other than what they were originally intended for.

Uses for Baking Soda

In the Garden: Sprinkle baking soda on the soil around your plant with a flour sifter to keep pests away. Avoid sprinkling it on your plants!

Babies & Pets: Clean and deodorize baby toys in a baking soda solution. This also works for dog toys.

Cooking: Add 1/2 teaspoon baking soda to your water when cooking turnip or mustard greens to remove the bitter taste.

Uses for Vinegar

Deodorize the kitchen or bathroom drain: To keep drains fresh, pour a cup of white distilled vinegar down the drain once a week. Allow it to sit for 30 minutes then flush with cold water.

Repel Spiders from Patio or Other Outdoor Areas: To repel spiders mix one cup of white vinegar and two cups of warm water in a spray bottle. Spray it around doorways or window frames to keep spiders away.

It also repels mosquitoes and smaller insects like ants.

Boil A Cracked Egg: To boil a cracked egg, add 2 teaspoons white vinegar to 1 quart water to keep the white from running out.

Uses for Toothpaste

Stop Itching From Insect Bites: Apply toothpaste about the size of a dime to an insect bite or sting to stop the itch. Use the paste, not the gel. Let it dry on your skin.

There you have it, my short list of Alternate Uses for Everyday Stuff. There’s more for another day and time.

Have you ever used any of these items as described above? Do you know of a different way a product can be used? Please share it with us in the comments section. We’d love to hear all about it.
