There is a very deep Hole a man has declared

a bottom of which has not been found

perfectly round created not of natural design

as if an entrance to another domain

discovered by a farmer on his vast barren land

surprised discovering it by chance

nobody had mentioned the anomaly was there

as down into its depths did stare!

Experimented in trying to detect how far down

the Ominous blackness descended

throwing objects to see time for noise to return

that never happened was disturbed

even fishing line to the length of fifteen miles

was not sufficient to reach the base

metal rings went down as far as he could see

it was frightening absolutely eerie!

Made him shake felt very queasy on the edge

certain something was crawling

up from this hole to take or devour his being

what could it be where did it lead

had to get away as his mind was overwhelmed

even his horses cried out in fear

ran from this bottomless pit would not go near

sensed an ominous atmosphere!
