Stroll!

Such a nice day parked near a disused lane

decided to explore take a stroll

there was a refreshment van parked nearby

a nice cold drink on his return

several people buying food as he strolled by

as an object ahead caught his eye!

Made him sharply turn but nothing was visible

a trick of the light in the trees

yet caution Began to slow his steps with concern

it was deserted so ventured

a nagging feeling made him want to head back

yet curiosity kept him on track!

Began to realise there was no sounds or movement

as up ahead saw a derelict building

again out of peripheral vision certain of a shape

hiding in the shrubbery nearby

had a strong compulsion to head for the dwelling

as that sense of foreboding was excelling!

His steps became heavy each muscle began aching

breathe laboured and rasping

soon stood at the doorless entrance in long grass

became aware somebody there

a shape in long cloak and hood hovered off the floor

petrified him to his core!

Where the face should be was just a blackness so deep

could not move heart pounded

thought it would explode out of his chest here alone

then it was gone now just the ruin

ran as fast as he could until he saw the catering van

glad to back where his walk began!

Nearing his parked car noticed a sign he had missed

small faded with arrow pointing

could only just make out the words upon it written

this way to the witches cottage

sat back then quickly left vowing never to return

images and feelings filled him with concern!

Intrigued compelled to research this haunted location

had to return for a paranormal investigation!
