The critically acclaimed and commercially successful album was the sixth studio release by Wayne. It is still widely-regarded as one of Wayne’s best projects ever and ranks high among many as one of hip-hop’s greatest albums of all time.⠀

ON THIS DAY IN MUSIC HISTORY, June 10, 2008, Lil Wayne released THA CARTER III.⠀ ⠀ The critically acclaimed and commercially successful album was the sixth studio release by Wayne. It is still widely-regarded as one of Wayne’s best projects ever and ranks high among many as one of hip-hop's greatest albums of all time.⠀ ⠀ Tha Carter III debuted at number one on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart, selling over 1 million copies in the first week! By the end of 2008 it had reached almost 3 million copies in sales and was eventually certified triple platinum by the RIAA in 2009 as it reached a clip of 3.6 million sales in the U.S.⠀ ⠀ That success was propelled by four singles on the album that had a strong presence on the charts.
