Hey there,

I’m Chelsea from Late Slip and there’s some super cosmic shit going on in this band that you need to know about. About six months ago, I moved back to LA from NY and posted on Instagram that I was looking for new bandmates (Ugh/lol, but Insta is the new Craigslist).

Bass queen Rachel magically responded and was the right fit in every possible way. She’s a kickass musician with style for days. The next two things I’m about to tell you are very, very specific so be prepared to get goosebumps.

I mean, really, there is only one other Venn Diagram in the world where these two interests intersect and it’s actually my Venn Diagram. This cat is a damn rock n’ roll yogi who loves Elvis Presley. And not like “Did yoga once” and “My grandma listened to Elvis and so I think it’s sweet.” No, my dudes. It’s like ”Yoga is a huge part of my life but I’m very rock n’ roll about it” and “I told my parents I was gonna marry Elvis when I was five years old and they were weirded out but totally supported me and it never stopped and so here we are.” Like, THAT level love.

Until I met Rachel, I’d never known another human my age who was a rock n’ roll yogi AND ALSO as weirdly, deeply in love with Elvis. And if you’re like, “Aww that’s cute, they like the Elvis movies” it’s like yes, obvi duh, but I also have a large Elvis tattoo on my arm whose hips swivel when I play guitar (unplanned, but epic) and Rachel is literally packing her bags to go to Graceland with her mom right now.

So, is social media terrible? Many times, yes. But did it totally, cosmically draw together two lil soul sisters who would absolutely form an Elvis tribute band if the name Shelvis wasn’t already taken by some older women in the Midwest? Yes, it did.
