Mariah CArey is the greatest selling female artist of all time who proved her brilliance even with her Debut album in 1990. When Vision of Love saw the light of day, the 90s were shook and Mariah's mission to slay the charts began.

Vision of Love is the Song that gave light to using melismatic singing and influenced a generation of singers for years to come. When it came out everybody was talking about it and it reached the top of the billboard charts. That C7 whistle note got everybody saying " What is this, how can she do it". Most of all, it introduced us to a new type of music and challened singers to step up their game.
2. New achievements
Mariah has set a lot of records with this album and one of them is being the first artist to have all of her singles debut at number 1. And all of these songs are so iconic.

And the fifth one to join is Emotions from her sophomore album by the same name. In 1991 she won a grammy for best new artist and best song. It's safe to say that Mariah's game was strong and she meant bussiness.

Every Mariah performance in 1990 - 1991 was breathtaking. Even if she was really shy and nervous with stage fright she was still radiating with confidence and it didn't take a toll on her performances. She ended them on a high note and the crowd was always mesmerized.
