Nawabzaade’s Aunty Dekh Is A New Take On Hit Yesteryear Song Amma Dekh

Nawabzaade is an upcoming dance film, which means that its makers are trying their best to make its music as appealing to the audiences as possible. Perhaps that’s the reason why they’ve decided to revive the 1994 Nadeem-Shravan hit Amma Dekh. This new version is called Aunty Dekh, and features the dancing talent of Shakti Mohan, along with of course, the main cast of the movie, Punit Pathak, Dharmesh Yelande and Raghav Juyal. Actor Isha Rikhi also makes her present felt in the music video.

Although the name of the song is Amma Dekh, most of the lyrics feature the words Amma Dekh and Bebe Dekh for some reason. That said, this song has been sung by Gurinder Seagal and Sukriti Kakar, while the rap portions have been contributed by Ikka.

Aunty Dekh doesn’t rely much on the composition of the original. It introduces a completely different music style derived from electronic music. Gurinder Seagal must be appreciated for thrusting even more energy to the track with his music. The thumping beats are perfectly timed, and really make you want to break into a jig.

While the singers do not have much scope to showcase their talent, rapper Ikka does manage to make the most of his rap portion. His verses make sense and blend perfectly with the mood of the song. Lines like “Iska peena bandh karwa de. Buri sangat ko chhutwa de. Ladkiyon se lambi baatein. Iska prepaid tu katwa de. Gaadi pe taala lagwa de. Disco mein jaana chhutwa de. Koyi degree ise dila de. Iska future set karwa de” really do come as across as amusing.

But the main limelight is of course hogged by the people featuring in the music video. Shakti Mohan puts up an absolutely ravishing dance performance that’s characterised by energetic moves rendered with grace. And then of course, there’s the lead trio consisting of Dance India Dance contestants Punit Pathak, Dharmesh Yelande and Raghav Juya. They make the visual experience of this song a treat.

Amma Dekh, the original song from the film Stuntman, was released back in 1994, and features Jackie Shroff and Zeba Bakhtiar. It’s the only thing the film is remembered by, as it had become quite a phenomenon in those days due to its quirky lyrics.

Coming back to Nawabzaade, it’s slated to be released on July 27 in theatres across India.
