Canon Eos Rebel SL1 is one of the world’s smallest digital SLR. Going through all the cameras in the market, you will realize that there is no camera like this. It is remarkably small, making Canon’s standard 18-55 mm zooms lens appear positively big in comparison. The Canon Rebel SL1 weighs just 14.4 ounces and measures 3.6 by 4.6 by 2.7 inches. Despite its small size, you will still get a good number of physical controls, which are packed into the svelte body; although you will still be required to use touch screen to adjust some settings.

The Rebel SL1’s performance is just the same as its predecessor T5i’s, although SL1 is with the exception of constant/continuous shooting; this means that, this model is certainly as good and very good as you would expect when you are stepping up to dSLR. As a matter of fact, it takes around 0.60 seconds to power on, focus it, and shoot –Canon EOS Rebel SL1 tends to be the same or a little bit slower than the Nikon D3200, but it is still quicker/faster in these aspects than Sony NEX-6. The average time it takes to focus, expose, and shoot in bright light is around 0.3 seconds and 0.8 seconds in dim light.

Generally, SL1’s performance is up to all of its intended tasks such as photographing pets, kids, and vacations, although there are some caveats to remember. The autofocus functions relatively accurately and quickly in both Live and still View/Video, as long as the user does not rely on the camera to select the AF points (this is mainly because there is no camera in the world that chooses the correct object/subject). The use of touch focus in Live Video/View is a huge help.

Just like other Rebels, viewfinder has small little focus points, which are not possible to easily center over a subject while you are shooting burst. However, Canon EOS Rebel SL1 comes with an accurate color rendition, satisfactory photo quality through ISO 1600, as well as acceptable dynamic span for DSLR entry-level.
