Dutch design firm MVRDV has completed the Tianjin Binhai Library in China. Made in collaboration with local architects TUPDI, the 34, 000 square meter space features an otherworldly spherical structure in the centre and mesmerizing undulating bookshelves. It can also hold up to 1.2 million books! If you’re wondering how you’d even reach some of them, many of the covers in the hall are printed images of real books (stored elsewhere in the building), which just adds to the sci fi vibe of the whole thing as the real question becomes which books are real and which are fake! See more images below.
