Let's talk Gingham!
According to Wikipedia, Gingham is...
"a medium-weight balanced plain-woven fabric made from dyed cotton or cotton-blend yarn.[1] It is made of carded, medium or fine yarns, where the colouring is on the warp yarns and always along the grain (weft). Gingham has no right or wrong side with respect to color." -Wikipedia
Fun Facts About Gingham:
It was first created as a stripe pattern, but now Gingham is known for its recognizable small plaid patterning. Like its close cousin, Muslin, Gingham's original use was primarily as a "test" fabric to make samples because it was inexpensive to produce. It is believed to have been named after the town, Guingamp in Brittany, France where it was first made. It has been a popular pattern in fashion for centuries, and many still associate it with Dorothy's blue dress in the Wizard of Oz
The fashion and home world has a continuing fascination with Gingham, and we are not in Kansas anymore!
