How long does it take for a trend to become a design style? Believe me, Botanical interiors are here to stay!
You will have noticed the Botanical Trend burst onto the scene last year. If not, where have you been? The botanical trend is very versatile, it can be applied and adapted to suit any interior style. I focus on contemporary interiors, so I’ll be giving you my top tips on how to create an awesome, modern botanical look.
Greenery- Colour of the year:
Pantone’s colour of the year may the reason that botanical interiors are still going strong. Greenery is a fresh and zesty yellow-green shade that evokes the first days of spring when nature’s greens revive, restore and renew. Illustrative of flourishing foliage and the lushness of the great outdoors, the fortifying attributes of Greenery signals consumers to take a deep breath, oxygenate and reinvigorate.
Pantone has collaborated with Airbnb to fill a London home with planting and projects that match its 2017 colour of the year.
The home features a dining room greenhouse, a bedroom with mown lawn flooring and a bathroom filled with tropical plants all. This hotel truly proves that greenery and the botanical trend fit hand in hand. Take a look below:

Amazing, isn’t it? It’s hard to believe all that is inside a London home. I really want to stay there now!
Interior Inspiration:
There’s plenty of botanical interior inspiration on pinterest too.
The room below features an eclectic mix of botanical features, including palm leaf prints, pot plants and wall planters. Don’t be afraid to use a range of different plants to give more depth. The bold prints add to the effect and make the scheme feel a lot more modern. The scandi style relies on natural materials, so plants fit right in.
The next interior is definitely daring! The dark blue walls contrasts the natural greenery nicely, putting the focus on the plants. Experiment with pattern and textures to create a more layered scheme. If you stick to a fairly small colour palette, you are able to use more patterns as they will all tone toghether.
It would take someone very brave to live in a room like this!
For a very contemporary take on the trend, pair plants with harsh black furniture and pops of metallic. To pull this off, it is easier to use white walls as a blank canvas. The linear black shapes will create a contrast against the organic shapes of the plants. The pop of brass adds interest.
You can even create a botanical feel without using plants (I know it sounds weird!) Try using a botanical print wallpaper to breathe life into the space.
