The Maltings Organic have just completed another compost deployment to local farm land of compost derived from the Green Waste collected from residents by Selby District Council.

The most recent use of the green fertiliser is on local farm lands in South Milford in preparation for winter wheat, it was sent only half a mile from our processing site helping to maintain complete community sustainable recycling.

This specific farm deployment used over 1400 tons of green Waste collected from Hillam, Monk Fryston, Sherburn and of course South Milford. The green waste was delivered under contract by Selby District Council and then processed at the Maltings facility over a 10 week period, this produced a high quality bio-fertiliser for use on local farm land, which is situated adjacent to the site.

The Maltings have been producing this type for fertilizer for local farm land for over 6 years now, one local farmer has had a 5 year soil analysis done which shows a clear increase in the quality of his soils from the use of this completely recovered and local sourced bio fertiliser. Other local farmers are now taking full advantage of this source of environmentally friendly compost, the local area is really heading towards local waste sustainability.

The Maltings employ over 20 local employees and have plans for new exciting investments creating more jobs and even recovered heat and energy, already handling and recycling upwards of 100,000 tons per annum and supplying fertiliser products to various types of land projects while recycling all manners of other residues. Selby District Council have been running under contract with the Maltings as a recovery and recycling partner for your green waste for over 3 years now, vastly reducing transport and ensuring highest possible recovery rates.
