As part of our plans for organic recovery, anaerobic digestion (AD) is the next major addition to our processing portfolio, as a green Energy technology and way of creating a high nutritional content fertiliser.

An area of 5 acres of our facility has been set aside for this system and a partner has now joined to help build and operate the system. AB Agri – part of the Associated British Food Group – are planning to build an 82,000 ton per annum AD facility.

The company will be working alongside us to recover Waste streams and produce clean gas for direct injection and electricity for use in the national grid.

The £15 million pound facility is a 3 stage system which ensures the waste is digested three times through the cycle for maximum recovery. The digestate will then be traded direct to local farming concerns and also blended with finished composts to create an even higher grade of fertiliser.
