Cookie Cutter Mummy Spinning a Spider Web Tale

Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch #213

Ack… I hate spider webs!  I’m not certain if my Cookie Cutter Mummy likes spider webs but he certainly helps spin a spider web tale with this adorable card.  Sometimes when I walk out on our deck I have to be careful of spider webs.  The worst part of walking into a spider web is getting the Heebie-Jeebies, doing the spider web dance then freaking out that there MIGHT be a spider on you.  Yeah, this happened this weekend when I went to start the grill for dinner. Well, now you know that I really dislike spiders and spider webs especially when they decide to be industrious on our deck.

Why did I use the Spider Web from the Halloween Night Specialty Designer Series Paper?  I love the black with the silver spider web included with the Halloween Night Specialty Designer Series Paper.  This weeks sketch was perfect for showcasing the Spider Web on a card front.  I really didn’t want to cut the paper up.

What are your thoughts and feelings on spiders especially walking into spider webs?

Tips, Tricks and Techniques from SunnyGirlScraps:

  • Layers!  I love layers but they can also make or break a card so they need to be used wisely.  Too many layers can be distracting.  On this card, I did opt to go with a Basic Black, Pumpkin Pie and then the card front as the main layers.  My reasoning is that I wanted the Spider Web to pop and the Pumpkin Pie sets it off nicely.
  • Spotlight!  Create a spotlight on a main element by creating a background element that creates contrast.  The mummy on this card is highlighted by the addition of the Pumpkin Pie Circle and the Metallic Thread in the background.
  • Mood!  While creating this card I kept thinking of the Pyramids and Mummy’s.  The Pyramids are also probably filled with Spider Webs!  The two work together to set the mood.
