Recent reports indicate that Cristiano Ronaldo has allegedly been sentenced to receive 99 lashes in Iran.

This supposedly occurred during his visit to the country in September with the team Al-Nassr for a match against Persepolis in the Asian Champions League group stage.

While there, Ronaldo had the opportunity to meet an Iranian painter named Fatima Hamimi, who kindly gifted him some of her artwork.

However, this encounter has stirred controversy, with Iranian lawyers accusing Ronaldo of committing adultery based on a picture that emerged showing him hugging and kissing Hamimi on the cheek.

It is important to note that in Iran’s legal system, any physical contact with a woman who is not one’s wife is considered adultery.

As a result, Sharq Emroz, a TV station in the country, say the Iranian justice system has already sentenced the football icon to 99 lashes the next time he travels to the country.

Ronaldo is not due to travel to Iran given that Al-Nassr have already faced Persepolis away in the Asian Champions League, however he could be arrested if he travels there in a later round or on a personal visit.

Should he be arrested, Ronaldo could be forced to take his punishment of 99 lashes, however the sentence could be forgiven by a judge if the ‘acts are not punishable or Ronaldo shows remorse’.
