Benue police dismiss constable for r@ping a 16-yr-old girl in detention

The Benue State Police Command has dismissed one Belasa Iyangedue, a constable for allegedly r@ping a 16-year-old girl who was in detention.

It was gathered that police detained the r@pe victim on August 15 for alleged def@mation at the Divisional Police headquarters, Tse Agbaragba, Konshisha LGA of the state.

While in detention, the constable, who disguised to be assisting the girl went into the female cell, took her into an office where he r@ped her.

The underage girl was said to have reported the case to the Divisional Police Officer. This led to the arrest of the constable and the case was brought to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Makurdi.

This was disclosed by the state’s Commissioner of Police, Bartholomew Onyeka on Tuesday, October 3, in Makurdi, the state’s capital.

According to the CP, “He was not only dismissed but he is facing prosecution. When civilians commit such offences they are prosecuted. He is facing dismissal and prosecution.”
