Doctor Who: Jodie Whittaker

I’ve been a fan of Doctor Who since it first aired in the 60s. The new versions of the Doctor, from Ecclestone to Smith were all good, but I have to say I did not like Peter Capaldi’s take on the Doctor and haven’t really watched many shows since he started.

Now though, for the first time since Matt Smith first came on the scene, I have to admit I am rather excited at the new doctor, Jodie Whittaker. This is going to open up a whole new ball game for the doctor. Good on new show-runner Chris Chibnal for having the guts to give the role to a woman, it was about time… sorry, bad pun there.

For those who have cried foul at the introduction of a woman, I say this. It’s all about the show and it’s all about the doctor’s adventures in Time & Space. But more importantly, it’s about Science-Fiction stories, drama and an alien who happens to be a Time Lord. Anything is possible. I have a feeling our new doctor was made for this part, made to play the character of a Time Lord, an alien who despite over fifty years on the TV, we still know very little about them. It’s a voyage of discovery, just enjoy it for what it is, a TV show.

Give her time – sorry another bad pun – I’m sure she will win us all over.

Good luck Jodie Whittaker
