Colorado judge keeps Trump on ballot, rejecting challenge under Constitution’s insurrection clause

A Colorado Judge has ruled that former President Donald Trump engaged in insurrection during the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol, but rejected a lawsuit seeking to keep him off the state's primary ballot. The lawsuit argued that Trump's actions violated a clause in the 14th Amendment that bars insurrectionists from holding office. The judge found that Trump did engage in insurrection, but because the clause does not specifically refer to the presidency, she could not disqualify him as a presidential candidate. This is the third ruling in a week against similar lawsuits.
