UN: Countries’ current climate action plans would raise emissions

A United Nations report has revealed that countries' current plans to reduce carbon Emissions would actually result in an 8.8% increase in global emissions by 2030 compared to 2010 levels, falling far short of the drastic cuts necessary to limit warming. The report highlights the wide gap between commitments made under the Paris Agreement and the action needed to reach the set target of a 45% reduction in global emissions by 2030. World leaders are expected to review their commitments at the U.N. climate talks in Dubai later this month and set more ambitious national goals.
