According to the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC), Pollution Levels in Delhi increased on Diwali compared to last year. The concentration of PM2.5 and PM10 rose by 45% and 33% respectively. Most air quality monitoring stations in the city reported higher pollution levels compared to the previous year. The 24-hour average PM10 concentration on Diwali was 430 micrograms per cubic meter, while the PM2.5 concentration was 314 micrograms per cubic meter. However, all gaseous pollutants were found to be within prescribed standards. The increase in pollution levels is attributed to residents flouting the ban on firecrackers.
