Bekauri became a double Masters Champion in the -90kg category, Lanir claimed her first Masters title in the -78kg category, Turoboyev won the first Masters gold for Uzbekistan in over 10 years in the -100kg category, and Puumalainen earned his Masters title in the +100kg category. The presence of Shohei Ono, a double Olympic and triple World Champion, promoted judo and inspired new generations.
