Steven Teixeira, the Compliance Chief at Chinese payment processor LianLian Global, has been charged with violating insider trading laws by the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and New York federal prosecutors. Teixeira allegedly accessed his girlfriend's computer to view confidential meetings between investment bankers and companies, obtaining insider information on deals including Broadcom's acquisition of VMware and Thoma Bravo's purchase of Proofpoint. Teixeira shared this information with an associate, Jordan Meadow, who used it to advise clients and earn commissions. Both Teixeira and Meadow face federal charges.
