When I was a kid, I loved Groundhog Day. It was one of those off-beat days when something special happened, and the outcome was a mystery.

Fast forward to life as a parent. My middle son was born on February 2nd – Groundhog Day. And he LOVES that his birthday is on a holiday!

And, as silly as it may sound, this holiday is just as much fun for me as a parent as it was when I was a kid. I think it’s the mystery…will we have 6 more weeks of winter weather or an early spring?

Printable Groundhog Day Activities

One thing I realized with my kids was that they had no idea what a groundhog was. They would hear about Groundhog Day and Punxsutawney Phil’s prediction with excitement, but I don’t think they really understood much about it (did I?).

SO I decided to do something to change that to help take full advantage of the Groundhog Day celebration!

First I created these free Printable Groundhog’s Day Coloring Pages.
