Oliver Skipp signs long-term extension at Tottenham

“You can never have thought that young boy walking through, you’d get to this stage.” Champions League-chasing Tottenham has announced that academy graduate Oliver Skipp has signed on to fresh terms at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on a long-term contract.

Skipp, 21, has been at Tottenham since 2013 when he joined the youth set up where he spent five years before breaking into the first team and making his debut in 2018.

Now signed on with the club through the 2027 season, Skipp can continue to build on his profile after a highly successful loan spell at Norwich last term in the Championship when he made a combined 47-appearances for the Canaries to help then-boss Daniel Farke get the club back up to the Premier League.

An England U-21 international, Skipp has come on strong this season under both Nuno Espírito Santo and Antonio Conte as a regular in the center of the park for Tottenham this term before suffering pelvic inflammation that has kept him out of service since 9 February.

His long-term commitment to the club comes at a key period under Conte as Skipp remains one of just three central midfielders on the books at Tottenham at current along with Harry Winks and Pierre-Emile Højbjerg.

That notion should be addressed in short order by the club, however, after news broke earlier today suggested that the Italian headmaster, along with club director of football Fabio Paratici, would look to bring in up to six players during the summer transfer window.

Additionally, Tottenham look set to make a permanent move for standout winger Dejan Kulusevski after the on-loan Juventus and Swedish international forward has shone under Conte since his arrival from Turin in January.

Thus far, it appears that the club is setting themselves up for what could be a potentially club-defining period as they look to push ahead of rivals Arsenal as well as Premier League giants Manchester United.
