Nashville Singer-Songwriter Harper Grae Releases New Single Set At Iconic Bluebird Cafe

The Bluebird Cafe is the iconic venue in Nashville, Tennessee known for its intimate live acoustic performances. Watchers of the TV series 'Nashville' will recognise it as well as it features regularly. Nashville-based Country music singer-songwriter, Harper Grae, recently released a new single and music video written for her father, in time for Father's Day. 'Dear Daddy' is an incredibly personal Song and was co-written with Pat Alger who is a Nashville Songwriter Hall of Fame member. The live performance video shows Harper and Pat showcasing this tender and beautiful song at the prestigious Bluebird Cafe.
"This song is without a doubt one of the most personal songs I've ever written," Harper said. "For one of my writing appointments with Pat, I brought in a letter I had written to my father but never sent it to him. I thought it could simply be the inspiration for a song, but it turned out being the song. We spent the afternoon crafting music around most of the letter I had written, and ‘Dear Daddy’ is the result.
“The fact that I got to write it with such an incredible writer as Pat Alger is just amazing to me,” Harper said. “Then, he agreed to perform it with me for a live music video.  Add to that, we got to shoot it at the Iconic Bluebird Cafe. It’s just me and Pat and these raw emotions. For a while, I was afraid to share this kind of story from my past, but unfortunately, I think many people will be able to relate to the lyrics. I hope that brings all of us in this same situation some comfort—the fact that you aren’t alone and that there is beauty in admitting that vulnerability.”
'Dear Daddy' shows exceptional songwriting and the ability to evoke poignancy and emotion through Harper's heartfelt falsetto vocals. The song highlights her country vocal roots and the listener will feel every note played and every lyric sung. Her feelings are expressed not just through the lyrics, but the melody and artistic instrumental arrangement from Pat Alger. Performed in such a personal, intimate setting with a lot of history only heightens this moving performance.
Harper released her debut single 'Hell or Highwater' in 2015 and was added to CMT's Artist Discovery Program, named one of the 10 Artists You Need To Know by Rolling Stone Country and also featured in the Artist Discovery spotlight on the nationally syndicated radio show Crook & Chase. Harper has also featured on the popular TV show 'Glee Project 2' and released her single 'Free' earlier this year.
Now with 'Dear Daddy', Harper continues her singer-songwriting journey and with effortless melodies and thought provoking themes and lyrics, she is sure to go very far indeed.
Harper Grae is currently working on her debut EP, which is set to be released in Autumn 2017.
