Lotil Classic Skincare*

Ok, I have to admit I have been overdoing things a bit recently… And in a bid to pep up my Skin I seem to have overdone the Retinol a bit…

Retinol is great for skin clarity and a little softening of fine lines, however the kick back can be dry, flaky skin.

I think I have it under control,  but then I put my glasses on – and there it is, the tell tale signs of Retinol abuse!  Slightly pink skin and dry patches which foundation only makes worse.

What I need to combat this is a good dollop of moisturiser and I have recently been trying Lotil – and it is all good.

Lotil – ‘Seriously good for all dry skin’

I could not agree more with the Lotil tag line. Whilst my skin is not routinely dry the Retinol has been making it very flaky.  My regular moisturiser just didn’t seem to cut it.

I literally found though that on the FIRST! use Lotil made my skin better.

As I don’t have naturally dry skin (just some dry patches) I only needed a tiny amount, which I smoothed on.

My skin just drank it in and it instantly looked better, which in turn meant my foundation went on smoother so of course I felt loads better and less reptilian like!

The benefits of Retinol take a while, around 3-6 months.  So whilst my skin contains to slough itself silly, I am going to continue to apply Lotil to combat the dryness.

Lotil – it’s good to have options

Lotil comes to you in two forms – jar or a tube.  Whilst it is the same product the consitency is slighly different.

Lotil in the tube needs to be squeezable, in the jar it is more set – the consistency of butter.

The tube I have, (5oml) is the perfect size for my handbag.  It makes for a very good hand cream (but no SPF).

The tub is a big (114ml) so is better placed in the bathroom – it is the same product.  Super hydrating and multi-use…

I have a bit of a (bad) habit of ‘dry’ shaving my legs.  Which means I am using a razor on dry skin.  Whilst I would not recommend this practice I have done and will no doubt continue to do this for years to come.

Dry shaving does have some benefits though (apart from being quicker), it really exfoliates the skin as you are literally shaving off the top layer!

I find a good slather of Lotil is just what’s needed – no more flakiness (and it does not sting).

You can really apply this versatile cream anywhere that is feeling parched – I find it sinks nicely into my hands and is great for my elbows and the heels of my feet which suffer in colder weather.

Lotil is lightly scented – it smells nice and fresh, but I couldn’t tell you of what exactly  The label of course gives you a full ingredients list.

Whilst I can’t say exactly what the scent is I would say this it isn’t strong and not overly feminine – Mr BeautyBoo agrees.

Price

Lotil is a great product and it does it’s job – moisturising dry skin.  However, it does NOT come with a hefty price tag.

Sometimes I can be a bit frugal with ‘expensive’ skin care as I want it to last.

This practice is a bit short sighted though as skincare products do have a shelf life, and if you open them and don’t use them up they will go off.

In Europe it should be displayed on the packaging.  It is called the PAO (period after opening).

Lotil has a PAO of 24 months so it will last a long time but at such a bargain price tag you can afford to treat and nourish your skin, without hammering your bank balance.

In the UK you can find Lotil on the High Street and online at Boots, Superdrug and Lloyds Chemist.

Do a Google search and you can also find it at Amazon.  Today (Jan 2019) I found it at Superdrug online for £3.49 (50ml) and £5.99 (114ml).

Good to know

Made in England and paraben free. Lotil comes in four sizes:

30ml & 5oml tube
114ml tub
300ml pump despenser

Lotil contains anti-bacterial and antiseptic properties. Can also be used to combat the symptoms of both psoriasis and eczema.
