Summer 2022 is here and for us, that means it’s time to focus on beauty innovations and trends that are taking over this season. Summer is always an interesting time for hair care, skin care, nail care, and makeup, and this year is no different. Let’s look at some hot summer trends that are defining the way we’re consuming, creating, and talking about beauty.

Hair

Summer is the perfect time to let your hair down and get creative with how you style it. It’s time to replace hats and headbands with gorgeous flowing hairstyles that represent everything we love about summer. Braids are always a popular choice as they can be styled in so many different ways, and they’re perfect for hot days when you don’t want your hair sticking to your neck. Many beginner hair tips will suggest braids since they are simple yet stylish.

Next up are gorgeous beach waves that dance in the wind. Beach waves can be achieved with a curling iron or by braiding your hair and then unraveling the braids once they’re dry. These are ideal if you’re looking for a natural, textured look that gives that boho vibe. In terms of color, many are swapping out chemical-laden hair dyes with natural alternatives that will not cause damage.

Brows

Let’s talk Brows. Microblading has been extremely popular for years now and 2022 is no different. Microblading is a semi-permanent brow technique that produces lasting results. It is a form of tattooing in which tiny needles are used to create hair-like strokes in the eyebrows. The results are natural-looking, fuller brows that last up to 18 months. There are many benefits to microblading your brows, especially if you’ve always struggled to get the shape and thickness you want.

First and foremost, it can give you the appearance of thicker, more full brows that suit the shape of your face. It can also help correct uneven brow shapes and fill in areas where hair growth is sparse. The downside is it’s an expensive treatment with the average cost coming in at $300-400. It sounds like a lot to spend on brows but most people would agree that it’s more than worth the price when you see the results. If you’ve always hated your brows, you could look to a personal loan as an option to cover the cost. You can’t put a price on the confidence boost you get and that’s not to mention the time you’re going to save by not having to fill them in with a pencil.

Makeup

Summer is the most perfect time to experiment with new makeup trends and pigments so now is the time to get creative. Swap out your neutral lip colors with bright colors like red, pink, cherry, and orange. You can either go for a full-on lipstick or use a lip gloss or stain for a more natural look. For foundation, it’s all about getting that sun-kissed bronzed look. Bronzers, tanning drops, and tanning moisturizers are more popular in summer so it’s time to get rid of those heavy foundations and setting powders.

Next up is the eyes and why everyone is experimenting with eyeliner this year. Take time to perfect your cat eyeliner and you’ll be bang on-trend. Lots of make-up artists are swapping out gel eyeliners with black or brown shadow and an angled brush. The finish may not be as sharp but the softness is ideal for this time of year.

Nails

Summer is the time to show off your fun and flirty side, and what better way to do that than with your nails? Some of the most popular trends include nude nails – they look so clean and natural and they’ll go well with any outfit. Bright and bold colors are also a big trend this summer. Think bright pinks, corals, reds, and purples. Summer is always a time when we like to strip things back a little and our nails are no different. Gel polish/shellac is replacing gel and acrylic tips and most people prefer the shorter length during summer. Yes, it’s finally time to say goodbye to stiletto nails.

Skincare

It’s time to show off some skin so you better make sure you’re looking after yours. Summer is your time to glow so make drinking water a priority as dehydrated skin can look dull and patchy. Next, think about what sunscreen you’re going to use. The sunscreen you use in winter probably needs to be replaced with a lightweight water-based solution that’s easier to apply. Make sure the solution is also waterproof, as you’ll need protection when you’re on the way from the pool to your sun lounger. There is a lot more dust around in summer so be sure to exfoliate regularly and get rid of all the dead skin and dirt from your face.
