Hygiene Rules for your Vaginal Area

Maintaining your Vaginal health is very important. So there are rules that you should keep in mind in order to keep it your vaginal area healthy and in good condition. Here are some hygiene rules you may implement to your vagina.

Wear Comfortable Fitting Clothes

When you have assets you worked hard for to show off, it can’t be helped if you lean to tight and fitted clothes. But clothes that are too tight around your bottom half can be bad for your vagina. Tight clothes limit the air circulation around the crotch and groin area which will make it sweat.

No to Sweaty and Damp Underwear

Sweaty underwear can be caused by actual sweat, vaginal discharge, or improper cleaning after urinating. The fabric material of your underwear may also contribute to the moist feel. Bacterias thrive in this kind of environment, especially since the underwear area is also warm from the body heat. Keep it clean and dry to avoid having bacterial infections or bad odor.

Change your Sanitary Napkin Frequently

When it is time for your monthly visit, it is important to keep track of the time you change pads. The pads should only be used around 5-7 hours. If the sanitary napkins are worn for too long, they may cause bad odor and rashes. It can even cause infections.

Cleaning after Sexual Intercourse

Having an intercourse directly exposes the vaginal area to various things. The use of a condom is one common thing. The impurities from your partner also get in contact with you. So clean your vagina after any sexual intercourse to keep it safe.

Manage your Pubic Hair

Your pubic hair collects dirt and impurities, especially if they are kept long and untrimmed. They also add up to the damp feel around the vaginal area. Always keep your pubic hair short and trimmed or remove it completely through waxing. If you are using a razor, make sure to use new blades every time.

Avoid Douching

Douching is the act of washing or soaking the inside of the vaginal area to kill off germs. It usually uses an acidic fluid to kill germs and bacteria. Though it may kill germs and bacteria, it also messes up with the vagina’s pH level. And when this happens, the balance with the good and bad bacteria becomes messed up as well.

Mind your Vaginal Discharge

The normal vaginal discharge is clear, odorless, and has a mucous-like consistency. But if it becomes white and clumpy like a cottage cheese, it could mean that you have a yeast infection. The itching is also another symptom of it.

A brown or reddish discharge is only normal if it is towards the end your menstruation cycle. If not, you may need to pay your doctor a visit. It could mean pregnancy or infection.

These 7 hygiene rules apply mostly to anyone. Keep these rules in mind to protect yourself from infections, irritations, and other risks.
