The Best Natural and Organic Makeup Brands

I have tried SO much Makeup since I began blogging 4 years ago, especially where Natural cosmetics are concerned. I definitely feel like I know a lot about what works and what doesn’t when it comes to cosmetic performance with natural beauty products so I thought I would share the best natural and Organic Makeup Brands according to yours truly in case you guys wanted to try some more body-friendly products in your makeup routine, but maybe you weren’t sure where to start. After all, recent studies show that using more natural products can lower the amount of toxins in your body (you can learn more about those potential toxins HERE)  so it’s definitely worth a go if you’re currently using more conventional products. In this post I’m sharing my favorite brands as well as my favorite products from each brand so I hope you find this helpful!

The Best Natural and Organic Makeup Brands

Gressa Skin. Gressa is such an awesome green beauty brand, but their shining product is their serum foundation, in my opinion. I use it all the freaking time! It’s definitely my most used foundation and with good reason; the serum-like consistency blends into skin seamlessly for a “your skin, but better” type finish. You can build up the coverage to medium, in my opinion, though people might argue otherwise. The serum bronzer is similar in texture, plus a little runnier, and more sheer. You will like these products if you enjoy natural-looking makeup with an organic plant formula that’s made right here in the USA. These products are the kind that sink right into your skin and look like your REAL skin – no foundation look here at all – and the plant oil formulas are actually doing your skin a lot of good while you wear them so there’s a massive added skincare benefit there.

Jane Iredale. Jane Iredale is one of the very first organic cosmetics brands I ever discovered when I first started exploring natural makeup options and it’s still one of my absolute favorites for a good reason. In short, all of their products are pretty amazing. Anything from eye shadows, mascara, and lipsticks to palettes, lip and cheek stains, primers, and foundations. My personal favorites are their brightening primer and BB cream, but that’s mainly because those are the products I continuously go back.

Vapour Organic Beauty. Vapour Beauty products are amazing for a number of reasons. For one, all of their products come in stick form so they’re incredibly portable and perfect for traveling. For another, many of their products are multipurpose lip and cheek colors so you can seriously cut down on the amount of products you need in your makeup bag every day. I love that all products are natural and organically formulate and their containers and manufacturing are all done with wind and solar energy in the USA. They’re also currently available in select Target stores and their website so they’re one of the more available green beauty brands out there.

Nudus Australia. Nudus lipsticks are natural and organically formulated in Australia. Their colors are completely unique because they use floral and other plant extracts and powders to create the color pigments. Not only are these lip colors extremely nourishing and hydrating, but they’re also incredibly pigmented and pretty.

Gabriel Cosmetics / Zuzu Luxe. Gabriel Cosmetics and Zuzu Luxe products are made by the same company in the USA. They’re all natural and organically formulated with safe ingredients. I love how pigmented their eye shadows are and their liquid liner is the best natural one I’ve been able to find that truly performs. Their lipstick in Rapture is the most stunning deep berry color on the market, in my opinion.

Alima Pure. Alima Pure is my go-to brand for mineral makeup. They make the best loose pigment eye shadows around, in my opinion, and they’re the ones I wear most often. Their shimmer eye shadow colors are definitely my favorite and their satin matte powder foundation is the closest you’ll get to a full coverage natural mineral powder that competes with MAC Studio Fix powder, in my opinion, but a lot more natural. All the minerals from Alima Pure are made in Oregon, USA, and are non-nano.

Karen Murrell. Karen Murrell is one of my favorite lipstick brands for many reasons. KM formulate all natural and organic lipsticks with nourishing plant ingredients. Moreover, they make some really beautiful and flattering lip colors and have more of a selection than Nudus (although I love Nudus as well!). The one major thing that KM has over Nudus, though, is that KM lipsticks are 100% biodegradable, tube included. This means that when you finish the lipstick and within 100 days, these lipsticks, tube and all, can be tossed into your compost bin where they will begin to break down. How awesome is that?

Antonym Cosmetics. Antonym Cosmetics make some gorgeous eye quads, makeup brushes, and lip colors. My favorite are their stunning eye quads, namely their matte eye shadows, because they’re incredibly pigmented and last ages. Moreover, these colors are so pigmented that you could use them with a little water as gel liner if you wanted to. Lastly, they’re entirely ECOCERT organic cosmetics and eco-friendly with their bamboo packaging which I love.

RMS Beauty. RMS Beauty is one of the first organic makeup brands I really fell in love with. Their Un-Cover Up was one of the first cream foundations I really enjoyed and purchased a million times. Nowadays, Gressa has stolen my heart as best organic foundation, but I still use Un-Cover Up as my under eye concealer a lot of the time so that’s worth mentioning. The brilliant part about RMS Beauty is their organic makeup formulas are super simple and they don’t put anything crazy in them so a lot of different skin types can use them without worrying about their skin being irritated. I also love the Living Luminizer (who doesn’t? Seriously.) and the Buriti Bronzer. The bronzer is brilliant for highlight/contour efforts in summer and subtle contouring in the winter while the luminizer is a genius highlighter year round.

Studio78 Paris. Studio78 Paris is a lovely brand that creates 100% ECOCERT organic cosmetics. I’ve only ever tried this concealer, but it’s wonderful! It’s one of the best concealer I’ve found for under eye circles and blemishes that doesn’t irritate my sensitive eye area or worsen blemishes while it conceals. Instead, it’s very gentle and has the perfect balance in terms of satin consistency. It also performs really great at concealing. It’s very pigmented and you literally only need the smallest amount to get the coverage you want.

Hero Products:

  • Off We Go Studio78 Concealer – I promise I will Review this one soon, but I’ve featured it a million times in posts and makeup looks over on IG so you know I like it and I’m using it all the time.

Living Nature Cosmetics. Living Nature Cosmetics is a lovely organic makeup brand that’s based out of New Zealand. They use a lot of lovely plant ingredients native to NZ in their cosmetic formulas and I specifically love their matte eye shadows and eye pencils. Both are extremely pigmented and last ages and ages. The eye pencils are creamy, but don’t smudge easily which is hard to find in a natural eye pencil. My only gripe is their inclusion of talc in the formula which some may not fare well with, but other than that I love it and haven’t had any problems.

ILIA Beauty. ILIA Beauty started out as an organic lip product brand and they do that really well. They have one of the more extensive selections of organic lipsticks, tinted lip balms, scrubs, etc. They have now expanded into carrying face makeup as well. I love that their line is certified organic, cruelty-free, vegan and made in the USA. Plus, their products really do work very well and create beautiful results. I use my ILIA lipsticks all the time and their tinted moisturizer works well as a primer or on days I want to skip makeup for light coverage.

Tata Harper. Tata Harper is mainly a skincare brand, but their lip and cheek tints are really stunning. They smell amazing and look lovely on the skin. My favorite is in the tint Very Sweet because it gives my skin a subtle flush of color that looks really natural. Alternatively, it makes a pretty bright pink lip color as well. All Tata Harper products are certified organic and formulated with natural plant oils, balms, and extracts. You can easily purchase a selection of Tata Harper products from Sephora.

W3ll People. W3ll People make some awesome natural cosmetics. I’ve only ever tried this mascara so I can’t speak for the other products, but this mascara is amazing at separating and lengthening my lashes while also giving them lots of volume. Moreover, my sensitive eyes are not irritated by the formula in any way which is a big plus for someone like me! I’ve heard tons of people give their mineral makeup and lip colors praise and they’re now stocked in some Target stores (and online) so they’re a lot more readily available than other cosmetic brands.

  • W3ll People Expressionist Mascara – Click Here to Read My Review

EcoBrow. EcoBrow make the most effective natural brow gel I’ve ever tried. It’s very pigmented and super comparable to Anastasia’s DipBrow Gel, only with a more natural formula that’s made in the USA. I get great results using these.

Hero Products:

  • EcoBrow Brow Tint in Penelope

100% Pure. 100 Percent Pure was another organic makeup brand that I discovered many years ago. It’s been awhile so I haven’t tried too many of their newer products, but their mascara was always a star product for me. Their lip colors, cheek tints, and coffee eye cream are also really great. What I love most about this brand is their use of organic fruit pigments and other food grade extracts like coffee, black tea, blackberry, etc.
