Never, never (and I mean never) underestimate the value of play and fun in getting you where you want to go.
When we engage in PLAY we create a path for expedited learning and growth. Cool huh?!
When I had my corporate training business I was sought out by organizations to help create powerful visions and compelling messages. My philosophy was that no outside person can come in and tell You who You are, what they can do is unlock the vault deep within the heart of the organization where the ‘gold’ is stored. My sessions were always based in Play. Game faces would file into the training room carrying notepads and pens (ok…it was a few years ago). As I outlined the day sharp minds quickly processed the information. They were in ‘ready’ mode—ready to work, get this done and move on. Complete.
Then the FUN began. The fun was integral to the success of the day. Fun creates a pathway between the limited range of the mind and into the unlimited possibilities of the heart. What it does, is integrate the two so that mind and heart are working in tandem—as a team. This awesome union catapults ‘the user’ into the stratosphere of unbounded creativity and potential.
The entire day was full of playful ‘work’. Serious participants were seduced as an unconventional ‘play-room’ took shape. They accomplished on levels that astounded them. The end-of-the-day review of outcomes was punctuated by comments of, “Wow that’s GOOD!” “Did we come up with that??” “THAT’S who we are!!”
The work was always extraordinary; only possible because minds and hearts were working in unison.
So Dream Testers what I’m suggesting it that you look for ample opportunities for Play in your testing! It will expedite the journey, make it way more meaningful and ultimately land you in a place beyond anything you can imagine right now.
Here’s something I do that opens my heart and deeply imprints messages that I feel are necessary for the journey.
This is my Doodle Message board
ACTION: CREATE HEART DOODLES – This it’s just Fun! I create what I call Heart Doodles. These are messages or quotes that deeply resonate with me and that I want to remember. I use paint, markers, glue, glitter and 4 X 6 recipe cards as my canvases. This is happy ‘work’ and takes me back to when I was a kid messing with paint and glitter…it tickles the insides. By having fun and infusing my thoughts into a bright, happy doodle I’m doing something surprisingly significant and meaningful. I’m opening my heart and imprinting the message there where it can have some serious impact. When the doodle is done to my satisfaction I post it beside my computer. Where it stays until I can say, I OWN IT, then it joins the other messages on the bulletin board in my office. Today the message was from yesterday’s post – The one big reason to keep going – and the message that ‘stall’ vs ‘lift off’ can be a matter of one tiny degree.
Here’s the steps to HEART Doodles
Step 1 – get yourself some 4 X 6 recipe cards (Doodle canvases)
Step 2 – fun begins… take a message you want to keep and start Doodling
Step 3 – get yourself some snazzy art supplies these are my Dollar Store paints..been playing with them for more than a year!
Step 4 – Da-Da my finished canvas.
Step 5 – Attach to lap top where I will see it all day, every day until it becomes my truth. Once I own it –it moves to the bulletin board. Onto the next!
Get ready for FUN. If you don’t have art supplies head to the dollar store immediately and stock up on recipe cards, paint, crayons, glitter, glue, feathers, sparkles and whatever else delights you. Even the process of selecting art supplies will awaken the sprite inside.
