Getting to design a dress print has ticked off fashion blogger dreams I thought would never happen! Topsy Curvy is known for its bright, boldly printed skater dresses that fit up to a seriously impressive 38. I mean, what other plus-size company is that inclusive? I’ve always loved a skater dress, from the 3/4 sleeves to a nice swishy skirt, and now that I use a wheelchair out and about, I need shorter dresses that don’t get caught in my wheels, so it’s perfect all around. CLICK HERE Topsy Curvy x The Blogger Collection Topsy Curvy x The Blogger Collection consists of 4 plus size fashion bloggers, all of which have been blogging/creating for a VERY long time. Myself, Debz from WannabePricess, Lucia from Ucantwearthat, and Kelly from JellywiththeBelly. It was very exciting to be part of this with people who’ve been in the industry for so long, not to mention Topsy Curvy themselves who are definitely a plus-size community favourite, as they’ve all been so welcoming and supportive of everyone. The Design Process Topsy Curvy has its own graphic designer who is actually Nadia from TheNaaadia! How great is that for supporting the community? Nadia has had several collections out with Topsy Curvy too! Our first step was simply getting some ideas together for seamless prints that we liked so off we went to search. It was really important to make sure it was a repeated print that we liked as that’s how these dresses are printed. Naturally, cats came to mind straight away but also I really wanted something autumnal/wintery. I toyed with prints that were really easily wearable for lots of people, something I’d want to wear constantly, something not too bold, but that’s just not what these dresses are about. The bolder, the brighter, the better Topsy Curvy said so my ideas went from dark winter florals and black and white cats to something closer to my end print. I mean, I still like all of the above too but when I saw the red roses pop against the leopard print, that just really ticked a lot of boxes. So I started looking for more prints like them and came across leopards and roses on green leaves, and that’s when I knew I wanted some kind of print like this. That way I had some kind of cat too but definitely had a lot of bold colours for a fun print. I didn’t like the brightness of the roses on the first one, or the overly detailed leopards on the second, so Nadia combined the two to create something that worked with all the parts I did like. The Georgina Dress All of the Topsy Curvy x The Blogger Collection dresses are named after us, how amazing is that!? A Georgina Dress! People will be able to say ‘oh I’m wearing the Georgina dress’, wild! My immediate thoughts after seeing my dress were, is it too much, too bright? But that’s just anxious GG talking because after seeing everyone else’s reactions, everyone seems to really like it which is so incredibly exciting to hear. The Topsy Curvy x The Blogger Collection was reveleaed at The Curve Project in Birmingham on the 11th of November but officially goes on sale online at Topsy Curvy on Monday 13th of November. Fully priced at £45 but Topsy Curvy is very generous and normally does 20% off making it just £36! I’ll be updating this post with any photos of people wearing my dress as I just think it’d be amazing to look at over the years. I really hope you all like The Georgina dress and thanks so much to Topsy Curvy for this amazing opportunity!
