Poison Ivy Halloween Makeup Look

Poison Ivy Halloween Makeup Look

Can you believe I’ve not posted a single Halloween look on my blog since 2018? Let’s fix that! My Poison Ivy Halloween Makeup look was one that I had wanted to do again for years, but I ended up having a 3-year break from Halloween looks completely. It did mean that I got to see many of them over the years which meant when it was time to finally do my own version, I knew exactly what I wanted to do differently this time. I knew that I wanted to be a fully green canvas as one of my earlier attempts years before in 2014 just wasn’t green enough. Having tried drawing green leaves for a poison ivy Halloween makeup look before, I knew they were tricky and instead this time I bought some Poison Ivy vines from Amazon and glued them together to make the pieces that sit above my eyebrows. Depending on what version of Poison Ivy you look at, these are either just added for detail usually. Rather than trying to fight with wigs anymore, I’ve donated all of mine and I just use my own hair now. To get the proper Poison Ivy Halloween Makeup I knew my hair needed to be bright red, so we used the colour that I usually lighten my roots with, all over my hair and it was so bright and perfect! It’s the Matrix So-Red SR-R, I really prefer using permanent colours but they just don’t have the same vibrancy which is annoying. I’m not stained red all the time though so it’s still better overall. I never use my regular makeup for Halloween looks as usually I mix so many different colours and utterly make a mess that I have a special bag just for Halloween. It mostly contains Makeup Revolution Palettes and a few special effects bits that I’ll talk about in another post. The SPX Face Paint palette from Makeup Revolution is one of my all-time favourites, I’ve been using it for the last few years now and already have a backup waiting to go. It’s just a solid palette of creams that you can blend and mix with a white base or use along depending on the coverage. I just always put on a very heavy layer of moisturiser all over my face, neck, and chest before painting as it’s much easier to get off than scrubbing at a dry patch of skin. It also helps it stay wet whilst you blend until your heart’s content too. Another big tip is that most white bases that you can buy are absolutely rubbish and really patchy, that’s why I use an actual foundation from Makeup Revolution instead and I always mix in a little foundation from other brands in a slightly more human shade when trying to achieve a flawless base. In terms of how to actually do this look I think it’s pretty simply, just apply makeup how you usually would but with stronger contouring and keep layering up the products to create that more realistic gradient of colour. Add a glitter eye and use the same shade for your eyebrows as your hair, a red lip and you’re done! For sticking the leaves on I just used some Latex Glue, again this can be super cheap as long as it’s in date it doesn’t matter and it’ll work fine! Let me know what you think?
