AD Home Office Update 2023

It’s been a while since I did a home office update post and there’s been quite a few new additions. I have a big post on the grand reveal of this room going from my brother’s bedroom into half a home office and still his room, to completely my home office. It’s quite the transformation! Over the years I’ve improved my home office design even more and I think now I’ve got it perfect. Designing a home office is a task that requires careful consideration and planning. Whether you’re a freelancer, a content creator, or simply someone who works from home, your office should be a space that promotes productivity, creativity, and overall well-being. As someone who is disabled, I understand the importance of having everything within arms reach. When designing my home office, I made sure that my Desk was not only spacious enough to accommodate my computer and other equipment but also that it doubled up as a makeup desk. This way, I can easily get ready and work, film, edit, and produce content, all from my desk. Accessibility combined with functionality was the absolute key when designing and putting together my home office. To ensure that my makeup storage towers didn’t scratch my desk, I added soft pads underneath them, making it easier for me to move them around (as they’re very heavy!) and use them. This small addition not only protects my desk but also makes it easier for me to access my makeup.  While having a coffee machine at my desk was convenient, I realised that I needed to cut down on caffeine. Instead, I focus more on self-care essentials like my skincare fridge. I also use my cooling facemasks and eye patches as a little hack, as they help with my chronic fatigue on bad days. This mini spa-like experience helps me stay productive throughout the day. Self-care is an essential part of my routine, and I wanted to make sure that my home office reflected that. I invested in a heated massage pad for my comfortable computer chair, I can’t sit for long without my head pad being on which hasn’t been great for the skin on my back, but it does mean I can get my work done. I added a light-up mirror that I can film with as my phone sticks in the middle. I also have another mirror where I can see my hair, but recently I’ve changed the rest of my mirrors on the wall for artwork instead. Desenio had the most perfect prints with a pop of blue in them which matches with my home office perfectly. I really feel like the artwork elevates the look of my space. By adding these small details, my workspace is not only inviting but also sophisticated! When designing your home office, there are a few things to consider to ensure that it’s a space that promotes productivity and well-being. Tips for Designing a Home Office: -Choose a comfortable and functional desk and chair: Your desk should be spacious enough to accommodate your computer and other equipment, most people are opting for standing desks now that can be adjusted to any height. If mine wasn’t glued to the wall, I’d definitely get one! Your chair should provide adequate support for your back and neck. – Optimise lighting: Proper lighting is essential for an inviting and functional workspace. If possible, set up your desk near a window to maximize natural light, which can reduce eye strain and improve mood and productivity. – Incorporate elements of self-care: Prioritise self-care by adding elements like a massage pad, coffee machine, snack box, and maybe even a skincare fridge to your workspace. These small additions can help you stay relaxed and rejuvenated throughout the day. – Personalise your space: Add wall art or decorative pieces that reflect your personality and inspire you. It’s crucial to have a workspace that you enjoy being in and that promotes creativity. – Keep everything within reach: Make sure that everything you need is within arms reach, especially if you have a disability. This can significantly increase productivity and overall well-being. I really like your workspace should reflect your personality and provide a sanctuary where you can thrive and do your best work and I definitely feel like mine does and helps me with that!
