Dyson Fans Vs Aircon Unit

Dyson Fans Vs Aircon Unit

Over the years I’ve actually spent thousands on fans, including Dyson fans, to get through the summer because I really can’t function in the heat. I am writing this post to save you all your time and money. To get right to the point, if you want to cool a room down, you need an aircon unit with a hose that goes out of a window or door. This is the next best thing to having actually an air conditioner installed, which I really did consider but I thought I would end up putting the aircon unit away for winter however, I’ve actually ended up keeping and using it throughout the entire year. As someone with chronic pain and I just generally get really irritated in the heat, I’ve used my aircon unit whenever I’ve needed it all year round! My particular unit can be used as just a normal fan too or a dehumidifier too. Dyson Fans I know what you’re thinking, what about the Dyson fans? Surely the Dyson Pure Cool or Dyson Hot and Cold or the new Dyson Purifier Cool actually cool the room down? Nope. They blow air and can even purify your air! I absolutely love my Dyson Hot & Cold with HEPA purifier filter, my mum has asthma and my partner has hay fever, they are amazing and I would highly recommend them (not the new ones that don’t have wifi) but Dyson Fans don’t cool the room down at all, they do not have the power of aircon inits. Air Coolers (with water tanks) Read the first paragraph again and save your money! I have had two of these, we’ve desperately refilled them with cold water at 1am on the hottest nights of the year but unless you added bags and bags of ice every hour, there is no way this is going to keep you as cool as you’ll need or want. There’s a reason why you can get them at a 1/10 of the price of a proper aircon unit, they don’t do enough! Glorified basic fans with a load of extra effort. How To Pick an Aircon Unit I have the Princess 9K Air Conditioning Unit for £400, it has a large hose that has to go through our window. As we have indoor cats, using the lower-down windows isn’t an option so we have put our Aircon unit on a box to higher it and then put the hose out of the top window. We haven’t used a window sealing kit and we can easily get the room to 16 degrees without sealing the window. We keep the curtains shut so that might also help. When picking an aircon unit you need to look at the size of the room it covers, the length of the hose (you will have to place it very close to a window or door), and what kind of sealing kit you need. Am I happy with our aircon Unit? Extremely but in hindsight, I would have picked a smart aircon unit with wifi that can be powered from my phone just for ease and because I’m disabled. I would also have spent more money to buy one that can cool a larger room just so we could use it to cool the hallway too. My Princess Aircon Unit cools a room 22m² but for a quick look you can get one for £140 that can cool a 80m² room. So my number 1 tip would be to buy an aircon unit that will cool a room bigger than yours, that way you’ll avoid any disappointment!  Pros and Cons of an Aircon Unit Pros of an aircon unit: An aircon unit will actually COOL and LOWER the temperature of a room. An aircon unit can provide a white noise effect. You’ll survive the heatwave. Portable. Depending on the model it can also be a normal fan and dehumidifier. Cons of an aircon unit: Expensive both to buy and then run. Noisy but you might get used to it (I love it). Bulky and takes up space. Ugly hose through the window. Have to empty the water tank when using it as a dehumidifier and it’s heavy. Where to shop Aircon units? Shop around, use Price Spy to price compare where the cheapest place is to buy from, and don’t forget to use TopCashBack and Airtime Rewards (app store, use my code to sign up V9PYQ8WE.) Amazon is always a great place to buy devices because of their returns gurantee, any time I’ve ever had a problem with my back massages they’ve replaced or refunded without problem!  As much as I love my Dyson fans and think they’re absolutely great for 90% of the year, on those super hot days I just couldn’t survive without my aircon unit!
