AD – Stagecoach Bus Trip Challenge in Sheffield

This post is a collaboration with Stagecoach, but all thoughts and experiences are my own. With the cost of living going up, lots of people will be worrying about not being able to afford to do the things they usually love and enjoy. That’s why I’ve been asked to join the Stagecoach Bus Trip Challenge in Sheffield which is all about avoiding the costs of petrol and parking by taking the bus instead! That way you have more money to spend whilst out on fun things in life! For my day out I’ve used the Stagecoach Journey Planner to find out exactly what bus I need to take and I have a budget of £40. Here’s how I’ve planned my journey… Thankfully I live in a great area which is only 40 minutes from Sheffield City Centre via bus and 40 minutes away from a massive shopping center, Meadowhall, by bus. So it was quite a hard choice but seen as the sun is shining I’ve picked the Sheffield City Centre as not only has it got shops, restaurants, and lots of lovely outdoor areas to hang around in, it also has a couple of free museums and free attractions that I’ve always loved spending my time in. Our return trip for two people will cost just £4.40, that’s 1/4 of what we have spent in the past using taxis and depending on the parking site about 1/2 of the cost of parking, and with fuel costs today, well you’re definitely saving the most by taking a Stagecoach! Using the Stagecoach Bus 1 route to arrive at Arundel Gate, we will then go up into Tudur Street whilst looking at the posters for what’s going to be on at the Sheffield Lyceum, and head to Tudor Square straight towards one of my favourite places in Sheffield. Stopping for a quick hot drink and toast at Zooby’s for £3.80 which is just inside the Winter Gardens, we’ll then walk through to hang out in the sun in the Peace Gardens for a while before moving back into the Winter Gardens. This is such a great place to visit for anyone who likes plants or even just if you want somewhere to take some nice photos! A definite blogger spot for Sheffield. The Winter Gardens is completely accessible and really easy to walk or wheel around, it’s also attached to the Millennium Gallery Modern museum which has a lot of metalwork displays. This is also a completely flat, easily accessible museum with lots of seating, stations to sit down and listen and watch things, activities, and generally just a fun place to visit. I’ve now been more times as an adult than I did as a child! Plus it’s completely free, so we will have just spent hours enjoying our time whilst not spending a single penny! Finally, before heading to the cinema we’ll stop at GT News for a £1 drink each and a pack of sweets to share which comes to £3.00. We’re very lucky in Sheffield that our Odeon Cinema was one of the first ones to get its fancy new makeover and is now known as the Odeon Luxe Sheffield. I actually went to the opening and it’s very impressive! Every single seat is now a recliner, they’re more comfortable as they’re extra wide and they’re all the same price. It does mean that the cinema cost has significantly gone up in price but trust me, it’s a serious glow-up and worth £28.80 (£14.40 per person). I’m a massive movie buff and I absolutely love watching the latest movie out so I’ve planned to watch the latest Jurassic Park. We’ve already got our Stagecoach return ticket so that means we’ll have spent up completely spent our budget of £40 and managed to have a fun day out!
