AD – WUKA Period Underwear Size Extension!

Being a plus-size blogger means I always LOVE to hear when brands start catering for plus sizes. WUKA, the UK’s leading sustainable period underwear brand, has just had a size extension! WUKA period underwear now caters to everyone up to a size 6XL which is a UK26. When WUKA reached out I was really intrigued. The first thing that struck me was that they were really inclusive with the language that they used – they are specifically marketed towards all people who have periods, saying “everyone who bleeds”, and this more deliberate language gets them immediate bonus points from me. WUKA period underwear comes in three styles of underwear – midi brief, hipster, and high waist – all of which are available up to a size 6XL for light, medium, and heavy flows. With a wide range of sizes like that, it really seems like they have covered all bases and there could be a product within their range that works for the majority of people. How did I find the sizing of WUKA period underwear? I ordered the largest size (6XL) and I am usually a size 26 in clothing, though I tend to size up in pants and would have if I had had the option, I was surprised to find that I actually didn’t need to for a comfy fit. The underwear was very firm fitting to start with, but I imagine that they will loosen up as I wear them more. The fit was actually really comfortable and I’m glad that I went with the size that I did. I opted for the heavy flow underwear and was interested to see how that was going to look and feel. I’m used to wearing huge pads as I find them the most comfortable. Would WUKA period underwear make me look like I was wearing a nappy? To my complete joy, they arrived with a panel in the middle and mesh sides that are actually cuter than my day-to-day! The WUKA period underwear didn’t feel bulky or in the way at all. The best thing about the pants is that they cover full coverage towards the back too, which is crucial to me as somebody who will be wearing them in a wheelchair, but leaking from the back is always a huge concern when out and about. The pants were really high quality, so I felt really comfortable and protected.  The sizing is pretty good – the top of the range extending to a 6XL is fairly new for the company which is great, but obviously, I’m a size 26 and I’m at the top end of the range, so I’d love it if they could go up to a size 32 to have truly inclusive sizing. For full inclusivity, an option for custom sizing would be fantastic, as obviously people are not all built in the same way. I’m happy with the brand in general for extending the sizing though, and if they’re happy to extend once they’re often happy to extend again in the future so I’m hopeful that the brand’s sizing could become even more inclusive! Any concerns? I had a couple of worries before I tried the pants on, which thankfully I no longer have. My first concern was that I’d feel like they were wet all of the time, which would be unpleasant and could cause skin irritation. I actually found that the WUKA period pants feel nothing like a pad, and they offer an amazing level of absorption. I usually wear night pads when I’m going out just to make sure that there aren’t going to be any leaks, but these pants offered me the same level of protection without any of the bulk or inconvenience. I was also worried that there was going to be a smell to this underwear, but they make it really easy to take care of the pants so that there are no lingering odours. Speaking of how easy they are to take care of, WUKA offers step-by-step instructions on washing your period pants on their website, and they are honestly just as easy as any other pair of pants to keep clean, just don’t tumble dry! I really appreciated this, as I wouldn’t want to switch to period pants if it would mean a lot of extra pressure and work around managing my period.  Would I recommend WUKA period underwear? Overall, this is a really good brand that I’m excited to support further in the future. I love that they take so much care to be inclusive, and their mission statement – to eradicate period shame, encourage inclusivity, body positivity, and the conversation surrounding periods while facing the ongoing challenge of period poverty – is absolutely something I could get behind. I was cautiously optimistic about period pants and I’m so glad I’ve given them a try. My only suggestion for the brand would be to push the upper limit of that sizing more to at least include a size 32, and then I honestly couldn’t fault WUKA period underwear at all. I’m really happy to say that for the first time in my life, I’m not dreading my period!   WUKA Period Underwear Discount Code! ‘GEORGINA15‘ to get 15% off.
