Feeling 20 "Youth Serum"

Do you want to look younger? I've got the most amazing "Youth Serum" to tell you about... The key ingredient? Don't act your age! 

You think I'm crazy, but let me tell you... it works better than any miracle cream on the market! How do I know? Because Grandpa Roy taught me the secret to staying young!

He was 92 when he died, on Christmas day about 12 years ago.  He ran his truck into a light pole on the way home from Christmas Dinner. That day (as he did almost every day), he got up at 5 am, went fishing on the river in his waders in 35 degree weather,  went dancing with a bunch of his girlfriends ( he had more girlfriends than Hugh Hefner!) and then drove an hour to my parent's house for Christmas Dinner.

How does someone at 92 years old look 50 and have as much vitality as a 30 year old?? Let me share with the secrets of Grandpa Roy's "Youth Serum"...

1) Water - he drank a ton of it.  There are so many health benefits to drinking water  that it's impossible to list them all.  Some of you try to justify your water intake by saying you drink coffee all day, and coffee has water in it, so it's just like drinking water.  But let me be clear... juice, coffee, tea, vodka (yes, it's clear like water... but no, it doesn't count) etc. is NOT water! Pure water is the source of the fountain of youth. Stop whining... drink water!

2) Whole grains - every morning he made 12 grain oatmeal with dates to sweeten it. Studies have shown that whole grains reduce your risk for many chronic diseases, on top of managing your weight. Many whole grains also make your skin radiant!

3) Fish - Grandpa Roy caught and cooked his own fish every day.  I believe that was one of the reasons he was able to stay so physically and mentally active at his age.  Not a big fan of fish? My suggestion is to add fish one to two times a week, and make sure you have other foods like flax seed, kidney beans, and soy beans that are high in Omega 3's during the rest of the week.
4) Exercise - Grandpa Roy would hike 5 miles in to his favorite fishing holes every day.  I know, you probably don't have time to go for a 5 mile hike every day,  but at least get your butt up and outdoors for a little bit every day.  Staying active and breathing fresh air keeps you young.  Sitting on your couch watching "The Bachelor" (my own little guilty pleasure) does not.

5) Go dancing.  Ok, so maybe you are like me and you look like a duck with a hernia when you dance, but so what??  Have fun! Having fun reduces stress... and stress makes you look old.

6) Have sex.  I've tried for years to repress the memory of my Grandpa Roy telling me about his escapades with his lady friends.... picture me with my hands over my ears going "LA LA LA... I CAN'T HEAR YOU!!!".  But neurophysiologist David Weeks, M.D., of Scotland's Royal Edinburgh Hospital, says "An active sex life slows the aging process."
in his book "Secrets of the Superyoung".  All I can say is that it worked for Grandpa Roy... and his lady friends!!
7) Never EVER talk about how old you are getting!  If you talk about how old you are all the time, guess what.. You'll start believing it (and looking like it)!  Instead... talk about how young you feel.  The power of positive thinking is amazing.  Studies have shown that positive thinking can increase your life span.  But it may actually be one of the hardest pieces of advice to take in this blog.  Because if you are a "glass is half empty" kind of person, no amount of positive reinforcement from other people is going to help you.  You have to make the conscious decision to think positively!  For help with changing your attitude to a more positive polarity, click HERE. 
Alright, so my Feeling 20 "Youth Serum" isn't some magic potion... but it's cheaper and more effective than anything you will find in a bottle on a drug store shelf.
