Buy a Bra, Support Ovarian Cancer Research

Training for a world-class gymnastics competition is a fun but grueling task. At the time I thought it might be the toughest thing I’d ever do. I was wrong.  Five years ago I took on an even more difficult challenge: Ovarian cancer.

Although I survived, more than 14,000 women this year won’t be so fortunate. I want to do something to change that, and you can help!

September is National Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, and I’ve teamed up with ThirdLove, an amazing new lingerie brand whose mission is to help women feel great inside and out, and to raise awareness about ovarian cancer and how early detection can save lives.

Unfortunately, the disease’s symptoms (pelvic pain, back pain, irregular periods, nausea and frequent urination) are easily overlooked and often dismissed by women as simply part of life. We must listen closely to our bodies, and if something feels strange, painful, or even just different, bring it up to your gynecologist — it just may save your life.

One of my favorite nonprofits, OCRFA, is the largest global organization dedicated to advancing ovarian cancer research while supporting women and their families. Starting today, ThirdLove will donate 25% of sales on select items for the next week to support OCRFA’s work. As a woman on the move, I’m a huge fan of ThirdLove’s comfortable and beautiful bras, and buying one during this week means you’re also supporting OCRFA’s mission to bring an end to this devastating disease.

Please take care of yourself, get checked out regularly, and be sure to tell your friends and family. The more women know what to look for, the fewer we’ll lose.

Take time today to shop for a cause and make YOUR health a priority.
