How to Increase Your Blogging Income with One Little Tweak

If you’re a new blogger, you’re no doubt trying to figure out ways to monetize your blog, regardless of your niche (and if you’re not, you should be).

How I Started

When I started blogging (way back when the Devil was a child), it was because there was something going on in my life that I needed to write about, so the blog was in a particular niche.

But with blogging being so new, and me only doing it for the cathartic benefit, the last thing I thought about was monetizing it, which was a HUGE mistake.

Fast forward 15+ years, and blogging is a completely different animal. If you’re not planning on making money with your blog, you’re definitely missing out.

When I started ‘She Loves Nice Things‘, I decided that advertising would be part of my monetization strategy, so I joined Google’s Adsense program, because for new bloggers, it’s without question the easiest ad Network to get into.

Those of you who’ve had Adsense experience  know that the amount of ‘money’ you make with it is a total joke. Their minimum payout is $100, and if I told you how long it took me to hit that first $100 threshold, you’d die laughing.

But it was a necessary evil.

I did my research on the various ad networks, and there are more than a few of them. All have traffic minimums before you can apply, and there are bloggers who swear by their favorites. Some of those networks have traffic minimums starting at 25K sessions (not page views) a month, and others won’t accept blogs with fewer than 100K page views a month.

I wasn’t anywhere NEAR there yet, but I knew that there had to be something between Adsense and 100K page views a month.

Do Your Research

In continuing my research, I totally stumbled onto an ad network whose traffic minimum was a mere 10k page views a month, which at the time I had already surpassed.

I’d never heard of this particular ad network before, but after reading through the information on their website, and doing a Google search for more info, I decided to give it a try.

At the time, I was making pennies a day (if I was lucky) with Adsense…seriously. So, I created an Account with my newfound ad network, followed the instructions as to how to maximize my revenue, and surprisingly, I logged out and forgot about it.

It was about 3 days later that I remembered that I had created the account. I logged in to check my stats.

What I saw floored me.

I went from making pennies a day with Adsense (if I was lucky), to $33 in three days with the new network.

It doesn’t sound like much, but if your new blog is making $10+ a day, you’re doing well. Increasing that traffic from 10K page views isn’t all that difficult, which only means more money

How much SHOULD your blog be making?

Yeah yeah…I know what ‘those other bloggers’ are telling you; that you should be making $10 per 1000 page views, which I’ve found to be pure horsesh*t.

I should re-phrase; it’s not completely impossible. It depends largely on your chosen niche, and the type of traffic the blog is getting.

My regular readers know that I’m not gonna chime in with ‘what other bloggers say’ simply because they’re saying it. I’m not a fan of bullsh*t.

I like monetizing my blogs with ads because they’re a no-brainer. You get paid for the traffic that your content attracts, and you really don’t need to do much else. Besides market that content, which you’ll be doing anyway.

How does it work?

This network tests your ad placement, and figures out where best to put your ads for maximum viewing.

Choose a network that allows you to make more than mere pennies a day.

When you’re new to blogging, Adsense is pretty much your only option. But you can quickly grow that blog to 10K+ per month.

Once you create an account, you’ll get an account manager to help you set up your ads.

Don’t be shy! If you have trouble following the instructions, USE that account manager! They’re more than happy to help!
