Implantation bleeding is usually lighter and scantier than your normal period.

Heavy implantation bleeding occurs in rare cases.

Implantation bleed is not heavy enough to soak a tampon, a pad or tissue paper.

It is usually a stain of blood or a streak of blood, that you notice when you wipe yourself or in your panties.

Can Implantation Bleeding have clots?

Clots and tissues are common during your period or during a miscarriage.

If you have a heavy bleeding and you are passing out blood clots and grey tissue, you may be having a miscarriage.

Implantation bleeding lasts for a few hours or 1 -2 days. The duration varies for every woman for some it may last a few hours while for others it may last for 2 days.

Some women experience on and off spotting for 2 days.

When Does implantation bleeding occur?

Implantation happens 6 -12 days after conception. At ovulation, the egg is released into the fallopian tube. The egg can only live for 24 hours after ovulation.

If fertilised, it starts to divide rapidly into multiple cells called blastocysts.

It takes the blastocysts 6 -7 days to move from the fallopian tube into the uterus.

The next task of the fertilised egg (blastocysts) is to attach or embed itself into the lining of the uterus.

After implantation  an increasing amount of HCG hormone is released.

This is the hormone detected by most home pregnancy test kit.
