Space-sparklers. Party-starters. Conversation starters. 20th century Broadway-inspired marquee lights lend instant glam to every space and update every nook in a heartbeat.
Marquee lights have been around for decades now and have been used generously by restaurants, bars, theatres, hotels, and more since the 20th century.
A little known fact is that marquee lights were invented parallel to the rise of automobiles! Because cars rose to prominence during this time, the importance of quintessential marquee lights, i.e., large lights with prominent bright easy-to-spot bulbs rose as well. Cars whizzed past the freeway and catching the attention of travellers was paramount by commercial establishments.
‘This way to Motel’ read vintage signages along the expressway to catch the attention of night travellers.
While star lights signaled a circus or Broadway show were in session.
Marquees lent themselves even to the Moulin Rouge-esque bars that dot the Las Vegas strip even today!
Go on, bring a bit of Broadway and history home!
