Vintage Clothing Dupes – Cannes 2016

As the sun sets on Cannes for another evening, we’ve already seen a magnitude of style and glamour from the infamous French Film Festival… but there’s another equally important ‘F’ word that is an integral part of this event and that is, of course, Fashion.

The red carpets of Cannes are among the most glamorous in the world; with actors and celebrities dressed in the finest haute couture for the biggest film screening event of the year.

Like me, I’m sure you’ve glared at the images of elegant designer dresses with a deep feeling of envy; knowing how unlikely it is that you’ll ever get to wear such a gown. But fear not! Your vintage fairy godmother is here and I’ve found some gorgeous dupes from our vast collection, from this year’s offerings so far.

So sit back and indulge in some fabulous fashion that won’t make your credit card cry!

  1. Anna Kendrick

Anna went for this long gown with train, in a distinct rich yellow shade. And as if my magic, I’ve found the perfect vintage alternative in this 1970s vintage halterneck dress…

A virtually identical colour match, this 70s vintage dress is even more wearable, and would amazing either dressed up with heels and an updo; or dressed down for summer festival chic as we have done here. It’s approximately a size 10 and is an absolute steal at just £38. Find it here… http://www.myvintage.co.uk/vintage-1970s-yellow-halterneck-maxi-dress-706-p.asp

2. Rebecca Hall

Rebecca Hall wore this simple but flattering dress in a deep dark blue and black shimmer. The plunging v-neck, rouched bodice, dropped waist and midi length flared skirt are all perfect for her slender and athletic frame. I’ve managed to find the exact same shape with this 70s does 20s vintage dress…

The drop waist, fitted bodice and flared midi skirt will again be fantastic on a more boyish or athletic frame; to create an illusion of curves. This will only be helped and highlighted by the wet look shimmer fabric at the top. A great find! It’s approx a 14/16 and it just £44! You can find it here… http://www.myvintage.co.uk/vintage-70s-does-20s-silver–black-evening-dress-uk-size-1416-19570-p.asp

3. Kirsten Dunst

Kirsten Dunst wore this gorgeous full length dress with a hint of silver shimmer, in a deep muted shade. This is a combination that is perfectly replicated in this 1970s vintage purple sparkling evening dress…

This deep muted purple is delicately enhanced with the sparkling shimmering floral fleck, giving this the perfect evening edge. An absolute vintage classic that looks as modern today as it did 40 years ago. It’s approximately a modern size 12 and can be found here… http://www.myvintage.co.uk/1970s-vintage-purple-sparkle-evening-maxi-dress-8431-p.asp

I’m pretty impressed with our Cannes fashion finds, but which was your favourite? Let me know in the comments below and as always; thank you very much for reading.

Bye for now!
