PRODUCT TALK - MY FAVORITE SKIN CARE PRODUCTS

As a followup to yesterday's post (Read it here), I thought I would share my current favorite products and how I work them into my daily skincare routine.

Daytime Routine

Cetaphil Facial Cleanser - The first thing I do every morning is wash my face with Cetaphil.  It's very gentle (but thorough), and it leaves my face feeling refreshed.  It's not the best for taking off makeup, but since it's my morning cleanser that's a moot point.  It's fairly inexpensive, generally, somewhere between $10 - $15, but the bottle is quite large and lasts a long time.

Cetaphil Daily Moisturizer - Immediately after washing my face I slather on Cetaphil daily moisturizer.  It's super gentle and lightweight and contains an SPF 15 for a little bit of sun coverage.

Neutrogena Clear Face Sunblock - I told you guys in my last post that I am obsessive about sun coverage, so after moisturizing, I add a layer of Neutrogena Clear Face Sunblock.  You can get this in both SPF 30 and SPF 55, I personally use SPF 55.  Finding a daily sunblock can be somewhat tricky because a lot of them feel too greasy or too heavy.  This stuff is wonderfully lightweight and poses me no problems when I put makeup on top of it (just make sure it has absorbed fully first).

Mario Badescu Facial Mist - I only recently discovered this stuff and I am utterly in love with it!  It contains aloe, herb, and rosewater so it's fantastically refreshing and smells heavenly.  I spritz this on my face before and after applying makeup.  I also carry some of this around in my purse if I need a spritz of hydration throughout the day!

Blistex Nurture and Nourish Lip Balm - Do not forget your lips!  Your lips have the thinnest layer of skin on your body covering them and are just as important to care for as the skin on your face.  My favorite lip balm is Blistex Nurture and Nourish.  It leaves my lips so soft and contains SPF 15 for added coverage.

Nighttime Routine

St. Ives Green Tea Scrub - Cardinal rule of skincare: DO NOT GO TO BED WITH MAKEUP ON.  Just don't do it!  I can't believe how many people I have talked to that do this!  It makes me want to scream and cry, it's so bad for your skin guys!  St. Ives Green Tea Scrub is my nighttime facial cleanser.  It contains exfoliating beads to get down deep in your pores and remove the dead skin cells.  My face feels so clean and refreshed after using this, and as an added bonus, I have NEVER smelt a face wash this heavenly!

Burts Bees Cucumber & Sage Facial Towelettes

Burts Bees Clarifying Toner - In the past I have had a love/hate relationship with toners.  So often they left my face feeling so dried out and raw.  Burts Bees Clarifying toner leaves my face feeling clean and refreshed, without totally stripping it of all moisture.  I only use toners at nighttime, and I apply it immediately after washing my face.

Hey Honey Peel Off Mask - I received this mask in my March Birchbox.  I have tried various masks in the past, but never found one that I loved.  Like toners, they always left my skin feeling so dried out!  I received this mask in my March Birchbox and decided to give it a shot.  This is easily the best mask I have tried.  It's lightweight and doesn't strip all the moisture from my face.  It's easy to peel off when finished and leaves your skin feeling clean.  I try and use this mask on a weekly, rather than a daily, basis.

Wilma Schumann Skincare Hydrating Collagen Pads - Yet another Birchbox discovery!  I have noticed recently that I have started to get those tired dark circles under my eyes, but didn't quite know what to do about them.  I gave these a try after receiving them in my March Birchbox, and oh what a lovely treat they were for my tired eyes!  They have a wonderful cooling quality and leave your eyes feeling so alive and refreshed!  They are a  little spendy at $18 for 5 applications, so I don't use them daily, but they are are such a delightful little treat to have on the days that my eyes are looking particularly exhausted.

Vaseline - A tried and true standby!  I load my lips with vaseline before going to bed every night and I wake up each with smooth, soft lips every morning!  Specifically, in the winter months, when my lips tend to get chapped and flakey at the drop of a hat, Vaseline is a total life (or lip, ha!) saver!

Naobay Oxygenating Cream Moisturizer - I always end my nighttime routine by loading my face with moisturizer.  I have already waxed poetic about how much I adore Naobay Oxygenating Cream Moisturizer (Read about it here), but I will say it again, this is God's gift to skin.  This moisturizer does not contain SPF so I don't wear it as a daytime moisturizer, but put it in before bed and wake up with happy, healthy, and moisturized skin!
