As with the majority of Wendy Nichol's collections, the Spring 2017 Read-To-Wear definitely had some gothic, 90s vibes to it, and predominantly stuck to a monochromatic black and white colour scheme. But there was one pop of colour that I'm sure left everyone else's jaws dropped.
Obviously this piece was the true standout of the collection. The Rihanna worthy hooded, sheer Metallic Silk cape shines blues and purples and is honestly one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen. Apparently there were only three made, so I will be forever jealous of whoever is lucky enough to get their hands on one.
Metallics seemed to be a theme, with silver bags breaking up the monochromatic looks.
The metallics also featured in the dresses, which are absolutely gorgeous. Especially this one above which shows hints of blue, and a nod to the 90s was shown with the 'UFO' choker. The shoot also had some 90s vibes, not only with the hair and makeup, but with the backdrop which reminds me so much of an old school photo background, I don't know if that is just me though?
Slip's are still very much in right now, and this one is beautiful but a little different to the typical ones we've been seeing everywhere lately. The cut and way the fabric falls at the bottom adds something different to what has become a basic in everyones wardrobe, and obviously the metallic silk definitely stands out compared to a basic black slip.
I'm ending this post with one of my favourite looks from the shoot. The crisp white, hooded cape, sheer slip and thick choker combo is just amazing, and I'm sure you can all agree. Overall this collection is definitely solid, I mean, it definitely follows the gothic theme from all of Wendy Nichol's previous collections, but the mix of metallics and, obviously, that iridescent cape helped to create something new and beautiful. I, personally, loved it.
