Stitchfix: The Perfect Mothers Day Gift & Review

Stitchfix: Mothers Day Gift

Stitchfix time again!  This month I was more excited than ever.  I realized I wanted to do a review but also share some thoughts for the upcoming month of May.  May just happens to be a very busy month in my family with multiple birthdays and Mothers Day too.  Mothers Day is fast sneaking up on May 8th and I have multiple women in my life to purchase for.   As a subscription box reviewer you better bet I know exactly where to go for gifts.  My favorite idea is a Gift card for my Mother.  She has yet to try Stitchfix so what a perfect opportunity.

My Mother is one of those women who is very career oriented.  She’s worked hard all her life and doesn’t really know what a “sick day” is.  She’s one of those women who is independent, strong willed, and yes maybe even a little bit stubborn.   Working all day and even bringing work home on the weekends is something she does without being asked.  Her house is always immaculately clean, styled, and designed.  I often wish I had the knack for decorating a house like she did.  Coordinating colors in her home and outfits just comes naturally to her.  It must be an instinct that some people naturally have because Mom has always had it.   Mom is a bit of a fashionista herself.  Her closet is full of shoes, clothes, scarves, and purses that I would just love to dive into.  The bonus we wear the same size in most things just not shoes.  Oh and that Shoe closet is to die for… I think we lost count at about 70 pairs but you must realize this is a collection from over the years.  Her philosophy is that everything comes back into fashion over time.  Store things nicely and keep them clean and tidy and you will be wearing them again.  Good advice if I ever heard it.

Now my Mother has always been there for me.  She has always been that kind of woman that is there the minute I pick up the phone.  It doesn’t matter what I’ve done over the years she was and is always there for me.  Sick, bad days, work issues, boyfriend issues, etc. you name it she was there in a flash.  Her advice is invaluable whether I wanted it or not (haha).  She is a bit of a worrier but aren’t most Moms? I have been blessed with just not a great Mother but a great family.

Now that being said I was going to take a lovely photo of my Mother and I (updated shot) but she recently had foot surgery.  She is itching to get back to work and wear her pretty shoes! Try wearing a big ugly black boot after surgery for months.  It’s every woman’s nightmare.  No pretty clothes, shoes, and being tied to a couch.  No socializing, shopping, or working basically you’re on a Netflix marathon.  That being said I had to pull an older photo and I’m still not sure I will be here after she reads this to post again.  You never outgrow your Mothers wrath!  I’ve been threatened to not post any photos but I couldn’t resist.  So wish my hide some luck.  If you don’t hear from me again you know what happened I’m grounded in my thirties for life.

Mom, I love you and happy early Mothers Day!

Give the gift of Stitchfix for your Mother or special someone…

Stitchfix Review:

Now as promised my Stitchfix review! It was worth the wait I promise there were some beautiful finds this month so much that I’m up in the air about what to choose… again! (The Whimsical Peony contains affiliate links but all opinions expressed are my own.)

Collective Concepts, Simpson Halter Blouse $58.00

The pattern and color of this top are gorgeous.  It was the first item I pulled from the box due to its snazzy boho pattern.  It just spoke to me immediately. The fabric is lightweight and has a button up front detail (buttons are hidden).  I paired this blouse with the Zad earrings from a previous Stitchfix.  There is something about the small string tie near the neckline that just adds a simple, soft touch to this halter blouse.

April has still been quite chilly this year so adding a white cardigan was the perfect fix.  The fabric of this shirt is lightweight so for awhile you will want something on hand to keep off the chill.  This cardigan is no longer available but there is a similar one available here (URBANCLEO Womens Long Sleeve Draped Open Front Cardigan IVORY SMALL) in multiple colors and sizes.

Skies are Blue, Tory Textured Button Front Top $48.00

The Skies are Blue top is sumptuously soft.  I believe I have pj’s this soft, to be honest.  This shirt is perfect for casual weekends and getaways. It’s to be lived in and enjoyed.  The front of the shirt has a very subtle floral texture that is impossible to be seen unless you are directly on top of it.  I adored this as well as the detail on the sleeves and shoulders.  Pairing this soft coral top with golden threader earrings I received as a gift was a cute touch.  I also have been eyeing these earrings from Amazon for a bit of a change up from the tubular shape of mine.  I just adore threader earrings for casual days and casual tops.

The button up shirt lays so nicely and is soft as butter.  The back is made of a jersey material and is a plain pattern.  I love mixed material tops and this one is so delicately transitional you can barely tell the pattern changes.  Definitely beautiful and has the right coloring for spring.  The bracelet I’m wearing is by Nakamol and came in my Rocksbox 2.  You can get your own Rocksbox here.  The only reason I’m not keeping this top is it was a bit large on me and I had to closepin the back just to not show the girls for photos.

Gilli, Kamile Knit Dress $64.00

The Gilli dress was just what I had been looking for this spring.  I had been asking my stylist Michelle for a casual dress that I could wear out on dates or dress down for day to day wear.  The floral pattern is perfectly romantic yet not grandma style.  Thank you, Michelle, for that no grandma’s here!  Pardon, the static for regardless of my efforts I was Miss Cling.  Not to mention the wind trying for Marilyn Monroe moments!  For shoes, I wore an older pair of Nine West but I am itching for these Frank Sarto’s I saw on Amazon…

Pearls look gorgeous with this dress.  It’s so romantic and dreamy for this time of year and perfectly date worthy!  You can pick up a cheap pair of pearls practically anywhere to get by.  These happened to be a gift from a wedding I was in years back.  Another bonus is you can wear a regular bra with no-show.  Always a plus in my book.

A cute jean jacket or lite pink cardigan dresses this cute number down for a casual day.  Personally, I love the jean jacket look as it doesn’t overdo the romantic theme.  Now to get that tan right?  Just tell Mother nature to play nice!

Just look at that pattern it’s so dreamy.  Michele, my Stitchfix stylist, she just read my mind on this one.  I’ll give you one guess on the status of this one!

Liverpool, Robby 4-Way Stretch Capri Skinny Jean $78.00

The Liverpool Robby Capri’s are wonderfully stretchy and just like the Mira Skinnies feel like butter on.  With a 4-way stretch jean, you don’t get the uncomely bunching and gaping in areas that women often fight. One of the first things I noted were how nice the back pockets were.  Nice bum enhancement!   Now that being said mine were a bit large in the waste so I had an issue.  I am also short (only 5’3″) so these capris hit my calves just at the point to make me look like I had fat ankles.  Which is so not the case!  No one wants to have false cankles… eek!  Now if you are taller even by a teeny bit these would so work on you and as fabulous as they feel I highly would reccommend.

Yellow Box, Begonia Embellished Gladiator Sandals $65.00

Stitchfix recently introduced shoes and having a size 5 foot (they start at size 6) has been an issue for me.  Michelle my stylist sent me a size 6 in these glamorous gladiators to try.  I’ll admit they are a bit large but aren’t they so dazzling?  Unfortunately, being a bit big the ankle strap comes up to high making me look even shorter.  Eeek… that is something I never want to feel.  If they were in a wedge I think I would deal with them being a bit too big.

The comfort level on these though is a 10.  A great everyday sandal that could transition to a nighttime sandal.  I highly reccommend  if you are in the market for a pair of gladiators with a touch of glam and quality.

Status:  Returned

So the end of this months fix.  I was extremely happy with it and Michelle did a wonderful job again.  She really knows exaclty how to pick colors and styles for me.  I’m looking forward to next months fix already along with the crazy hectic schedule that is May.  For all of you on the edge of what to get your Mothers consider a Stitchfix gift card.  It really is a unique gift that she will remember for a time to come.  Follow the link below to get a gift card for mom or someone special!
