Holiday Beauty Haul

A holiday haul is a must when travelling abroad! Whether it be clothes, makeup, perfume or even just little memoirs to take home with you. A benefit of being in Lanzarote is that there are plenty of shops, little and large, that are full of all these things. So yesterday I had a bit of a holiday beauty haul…

Revolution
Revolution Makeup is a brand from London that I admit I had never heard of until I came to Lanzarote. However it is sold in the UK in Superdrug.

Their Radiant Lights Highlighters palette is perfect for creating a shine just on the cheekbones, making them stand out within contouring. You can also apply it on the bridge of your nose, the corners of your eyes, your brow bone and at the centre of your forehead (as modelled by my beautiful sister).

I also couldn’t resist their eyeshadow palettes. There were so many to choose from, but after about 5 minutes I finally chose the iconic 3 palette.

I love experimenting with eye shadows as you can make such nice colours using three or four different shades. I decided to try two different looks on my sister: a nude and more girly look and a smokey eye look.

(From the palette above, left to right = 1-12)
For the nude look, I wanted to create a colour that is quite natural and versatile with outfits. This can be more of a daytime look.
I started off with colour 3 as a base, as this will hold an overall colour for the eye, whilst also bringing all the other shades together. Over the top of this I added colour 2 for a shine and colour 1 to add a highlighted effect around the edges of the eye. This makes the darker base colour stand out more and also shapes the eye. Finally I used colour 6 for a slightly darker tone around the edge, with a small tint in the corner, whilst not overpowering the other shades.

For the smokey eye look, I wanted to create a smoke effect without making the eye too dark. Sometimes this can overpower the rest of your makeup and this is something I wanted to avoid.
For the base I used colour 8 to again hold the colours and bring them together. For the smoke effect I used colour 12. When doing smokey eye, try not to use too much as this can make the eyes too dark. Blend the darker colour with the other shades instead of using it as a block colour. Finally I added colour 1 around the edges of the eye and in the corners, again to highlight and shape the eye.

Revolution Makeup Highlighter: Radiance Palette – £8

Revolution Makeup Redemption Palette: Iconic 3 – £4

LOLA
Lola Makeup is also a range that I had never heard before but do an amazing collection of lipsticks, eyeshadows and foundations that remind me a lot of MAC.
I was particularly drawn towards the lipsticks, two colours in particular: Coco Dream and Mocca. They are two colours that aren’t too dark but will both stand out and give your lips perfect shape.

LOLA Intense Colour Lipstick – Coco Dream – £12

LOLA Intense Colour Lipstick – Mocca – £12

Here are some of the other items that I used:

Clinique High Impact Mascara – £17.50

Brow and Liner Kit – The Body Shop – £10

Chanel Highlighter Brush

Real Techniques Expert Face Brush – £9.99
