The Body Shop Frosted Cranberry Gift Set Review

I toyed with the idea of whether or not to do this review, I have a lot of Body products at the moment and I’m working through a backlog to the point where these products have actually been discontinued. Despite this, there are still Frosted Berries products available from The Body Shop which smell similar if not the same, plus I thought it would still be worth chatting about the formula and results of their sugar scrub, shower gel and shimmer lotion. I may be hanging my head a little bit for being late to the game with this review, but you know what they say, better late than never!

Just to make things confusing I have already reviewed the Frosted Cranberry Body Butter and the Frosted Cranberry Bath Cubes, but these other three products I got in a mini set so have reviewed them separately.

Originally these three products were housed in a very large, round tin however, for storage it was a nightmare, I found that the tin was in the way and due to the shape was difficult to store things neatly inside, eventually I ended up throwing it so from a packaging standpoint I did feel like it was unnecessary and excessive. These products doesn’t retail in this size individually but I believe I got the set in a sale reduced from £10 to £10.

I’m going to start with the Scent as I have noticed some discrepancies between the products, the body butter had quite a tart scent with sweet undertones but I did definitely enjoy the zesty edge to it. The bath cubes differed again, we still had the berry scent but paired with powdery floral notes that dramatically softened the scent. For me, the three products I have here are my least favourite on the scent front, I should have expected it with a sugar scrub but all three of this products have less berry and more sweet scents which at the same time smell quite synthetic. I do feel that the Body Shop can be hit and miss, nearly all of their fragrances smell quite synthetic and usually pull sweeter than expected so that it worth bearing in mind.

Sugar Scrub

Body scrubs are really hit and miss for me, I do like them but for me the make or break point is the formula. I don’t like scrubs that are too dry, I’ve had some in the past that have been so dry they’ve literally crumbled all over my floor which just isn’t useful. The Body Shop Frosted Berries Body Scrub had an unusual texture, it was very very wet and had a thick, gloopy like texture that reminded me of a gel with the sugar particles within. The tub means you do have to scoop it out which can be quite messy in the shower so do be warned! I found that this was nicely abrasive, the sugar particles weren’t as scrubby as microbeads or walnut shells (thankfully) but they were definitely abrasive and did a good job of exfoliating my skin. I did find that I used up the pot pretty much in one go for my entire body, I did also find the scent to smell way too sweet for my personal liking.

Shower Gel

The shower gel was probably my favourite of these three minis, it lathered up well and did a good job of making me feel clean. It wasn’t as rich as a shower cream (which I’ve been using lately) so it didn’t feel hydrating – I do feel that is where the Body Shop can be eclipsed by Lush, Lush use so many oils and butters in their products you always feel silky soft after using them whereas I don’t get the same effects from the Body Shop. For a shower gel though, this was nice, I’ve had two used so far and still have around half a bottle left so the size is good. I do find this scent to be still too sweet for me however, it was less offensive than the sugar scrub.

Shimmer Lotion

I do wish the lotion had been a regular lotion or a mini body butter instead of a shimmery lotion. I’ll be honest I’m not a fan of body glitter and shimmery limbs just don’t do it for me but oh well, this product is still usable. The scent of this is probably the nicest in this of the three products, it retains the zesty fruitness of the berries but has a slightly softer sweet undertone that isn’t sickly like the other products.

The lotion itself is lightly hydrating however, in this cold, snowy weather I don’t think it’s hydrating enough for winter skin which was when this was released so a little daft. The downside of this is the shimmer, I only use this on weekends as this will turn you into a glittery discoball which is a shame! I think for the novelty of it a child might like using this but I’m in my twenties and I don’t pull off the glittery arms look too well!

Overall, these weren’t bad, I do find with the Body Shop that I get bored quickly with the scents so I’ve used this Frosted Cranberry scent for so long now I’m a little bored! For the set I personally wouldn’t repurchase even in a different scent I think I’d specifically pick out specific products to buy rather than minis of products I’m not too fussed about. Having said that, I do think these are a nice addition to the Christmas ranges and they do make nice gifts or stocking fillers if you prefer to gift the items individually.

As mentioned Frosted Cranberry is discontinued however, you can still find some of the Frosted Berries products available online.

I hope that you enjoyed this post and if you did please hit the like button, let me know in the comments if you have tried anything from this range, do you go to the Body Shop a lot? What are your favourite scents? I like the original Almond scent, the Indian Night Jasmine is also a delightful scent in the perfume, I’d love to see a full Indian Night Jasmine range!

Thanks for reading.
